Belle crept from her room as silently as she could, trying her best not to wake Garderobe. The wardrobe had fallen asleep almost two hours ago before Belle had the chance to ask any questions. She was aware it was well past anyone's normal time for eating, but that was the point. If she could avoid everyone in the castle for as long as possible, hopefully the embarrassment she felt would ware off.
She had grown far too hungry after not eating anything in roughly nine hours to wait any longer. Leaving her only option to find the dining hall on her own in the massive palace. As soon as she opened the door, though, she realized all of her planning had gone to waste.
"Oh hello, dear. I thought you might like some tea." The porcelain teapot spoke, a small teacup excitedly sitting beside her.
"Actually, I was hoping to find some food." The teapot smiled, rolling the cart she was on in the direction of the dining hall.
"Right this way, my dear. Lumiere has been waiting for this for awhile now."
"Watch this!" The teacup announced, closing his painted eyes and bubbling up the liquid he was holding. His mother laughed endearingly, but Belle could only offer a smile.
"I'm Mrs. Potts, and this is my son Chip."
"Oh, who's your husband?" Belle asked innocently, and Chip snickered.
"My wife isn't here. She wasn't feeling well the night we were cursed and stayed home." Belle's face heated up in embarrassment.
"And before you ask, yes I'm adopted." Chip spoke up, having gotten used to hearing that question follow the knowledge of having two Moms.
Belle silenced herself, not wanting to ask anymore embarrassing questions, and she listened to Chip's incessant babbling. She almost pointed out how his voice sounded like it belonged to a girl, but she guessed that would give her another embarrassing answer.
The trio arrived at the candlelight dining hall, and Belle stopped in awe. Red velvet curtains hung over the entire wall of windows overlooking the gardens, and a table almost the size of the room sat in the center. It could've fit almost thirty people if they wanted to, but the room itself could comfortably fit just shy of one hundred.
"Go sit, I'll tell the cook you're having dinner." Mrs. Potts and Chip disappeared out a side door, and Belle gingerly sat in the chair in front of her.
"Mademoiselle! How nice of you to join us!" Lumiere announced, swinging himself onto the table.
"You sound like my Dad when I finally come out of my room." She muttered, and the candelabra ignored it.
"So, with food warming up and soon to be done, how may we entertain you?" Belle was caught off-guard, and she paused. The most entertainment she ever got with dinner was a movie on the TV.
"I think I'm all set."
"Nonsense! You're our guest! Let us entertain you!"
"Lumiere! Stop pestering the poor girl!" An unknown voice called out, and a black feather duster with decorative wings joined them at the table.
"I'm not pestering her, I'm simply being a good host. Mademoiselle, this is Plumette. Plumette, Belle." Belle dipped her head in greeting while Plumette made a bowing motion with their wings.
"Well does she want to be entertained?"
"Of course! Who doesn't want dinner and a show?"
The two continued to playfully bicker without actually getting Belle's opinion. She awkwardly watched them, thankful when Mrs. Potts came back into the room with Chip and food.
"Will you two ever stop?" The cart Mrs. Potts was on stopped by the table, soup, crackers and dessert placed neatly on it. Chip jumped onto the table, a happy smile still on his face as a bit of tea splashed over his rim.
"We were just debating over entertainment, Madam."
"Do you want entertainment, dear?" Mrs. Potts asked gently, earning a shrug from Belle. "Well there's your answer. Now eat." Belle picked up the meal from the tray, placing it in front of her.
"Thank you."
"Our pleasure. The Chef just asks that you say hello to Garderobe and Maestro for him."
"That was one of the cruelest things the enchantress could've done." Plumette mumbled, shaking their head.
"What was?"
"When we were turned into objects, there was only a few couples together at the ball. Most of them were turned into smaller objects so they're still together, but she turned the only polyamorous couple into a grand piano, wardrobe, and stove. It's impossible for them to even get on the same floor of the castle." Plumette explained sadly, and Belle noticed they were all wearing sympathetic looks.
"Poly-what?" Lumiere chuckled at Belle's confusion.
"Polyamorous. When you're capable of loving and having a relationship with more than one person." Belle nodded and took a spoonful of her soup.
"So, can we entertain you? I've got some cool tricks I've been waiting to show you guys." They all smiled at his enthusiasm, but the child wasn't paying attention as he waited for Belle's answer.
"Go ahead. I've got nothing to lose." Chip cheered and immediately started performing. After all, he did have a lot of time to perfect them.
When he was done, Lumiere took over the stage with a miniature bi flag he had procured from somewhere, and he managed to pull Plumette into his dance. Even Cogsworth joined in, against his will of course, when he came to scold them for being so loud.
Within no time, Belle's stomach and cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much.
