Once, roughly two-hundred years ago, a secret group got together in an old castle to celebrate. They didn't have a specific reason to celebrate and rejoice, they simply wanted to.
This secret group had been looked down upon and tormented by the rest of the world, but that's why they felt the need to come together. They found their strength with each other, and no one was going to bring them down on their quest for social equality.
Multi-colored flags hung down from the banisters of the old castle, each representing one of the things they stood for. Music was being played on the piano, and the LGBTQ+ peoples- as they called themselves- danced around merrily.
Not even the storming weather outside could dampen their spirits.
Their celebration went on for several more hours until a pounding on the door could be heard. Seeing he was closest to the great wooden doors, Adam swung them open to reveal an old woman drenched from the rain.
Without knowing she had interrupted their grand event, she fell to her knees and begged for shelter in offer of a single rose. Understanding it was wicked outside, Adam gladly granted it to her, even though he knew the probability of her not approving of their gathering was very high.
She looked up, ready to thank him, but then she noticed his green, white, grey and black stripped button up underneath a black, grey, white, and purple suit coat. Her eyes traveled past his ace aro pride to the other pride flags around the ball room, and the multitude of people staring at her.
Her eyes turned first to shock, and second to untainted hatred. The woman sneered and started shouting obscenities at the gathered people, mothers now holding their hands over their children's ears.
Adam tried to kindly ask the woman to leave, but that only angered her further. She took off her cloak to reveal herself as a beautiful enchantress, and put a curse on the castle and all who were gathered there. Everyone in the castle was turned into regular household objects while she turned Adam, feeling as though he had wronged her by asking her to leave, into a hideous beast.
If they could denounce themselves as LGBTQ+ people and mean it to be true, they would be free. Until then, they would be trapped inside the castle as objects with all memories of them wiped. They had until the last petal fell from the rose she had offered for shelter.
If they could not do as the enchantress demanded before then, the LGBTQ+ group would turn into statues, never to be seen again.
Years passed without so much as anyone coming near the castle, but they continued to live inside peacefully. With memories of the LGBTQ+ community wiped from the outside world, they faced no oppression from anyone.
But as the petals continued to fall from the rose, the group became fearful they would be forgotten forever; their stories erased in time.
