Daisuke (POV) We finish getting ready and all those who are available line up in the courtyard to receive orders. Commander- I want everyone to split into five squadrons as practiced. All squadrons are responsible for supply readying, message relay, and enemy combat under the command of the garrison regiment. The inner squadrons will be taking the vanguard. Cadets will be taking Greg middle guard lead by the support squad. Rear guard will go to the elites. I expect you all to man your posts. Our advance team has been wiped out. That's right! The outer gate is history and the titans are in! The Armored Titan as well as the Savage Titan are likely to appear! If and when they do, the inner gate will also be history! Those in the vanguard be ready! Your mission is a simple one! Defend the wall until the evacuation is done! Now be aware all of you that desertion is punishable by execution! If it comes to it, lay down your lives! Dismissed! Everyone- Sir! Everyone either scrambles to finish getting ready or starts saying their last prayers to whatever god they believe in. I go the outskirts of the courtyard and start mentally preparing myself for battle. Eventually Mikasa finds me and approaches me. Mikasa- Daisuke, I'm going to tell you what I told Eren. If things take a turn for the worst, I want you to come find me and your sister. Daisuke- Why? We're in completely different squads. Mikasa- Daisuke please listen to me. This going to get ugly very quickly and when it does, the plan goes out the window. Come and find me so I can protect you. Daisuke- Mikasa look- I get cut off by her approaching squad leader. SL- Ackerman you're with me. You've been assigned to the rear guard on special orders. Let's get moving. Mikasa- But sir I-I'm a cadet! I'll slow everyone down! Daisuke- Excuse me? SL- Look, you're being asked for a self evaluation here. The mass exodus is falling apart. We need as many elite soldiers as possible to get us back on track. Mikasa- But sir, why don't we bring Daisuke too? He's an elite soldier as well. SL- While that is true, his skills are needed in the middle ground. He walks away leaving Mikasa almost in tears. Mikasa- But sir! I grab her shoulder and turn her to me. I give a gentle yet concerning smile. Daisuke- Hey, don't you do that. You've been given a direct order. Get the serious Mikasa ready. This is way bigger than you and I. Humanity as we know is an endangered species and on the brink of extinction. I need you to pull it together. Mikasa-........You're right. This whole situation just has been out of my head. (Holds my hand and looks down) Just promise me something. Promise me you won't get yourself killed. I say nothing and guide my free hand up to her neck. She looks up at my face as I begin gently undo her scarf. With the scarf out of the way, it exposes the necklace I gave her that rests around her neck and on the top right her chest.

Daisuke- This. This has always been my promise to you. Once I gave you this all those years ago, I promised I would never leave you alone in this world. And that promise stands true still. You say I'm important to you, well same goes for me too. I tilt her chin up to make her stare in my eyes. Daisuke- I'm not going anywhere. I have somebody to live for. Her eyes seem like they're sparkling and a small pink tint appears on her cheeks. She let's go of my hand and palms my left cheek instead. Mikasa- Daisuke I.......... SL- Ackerman!! Daisuke- That's your cue. I'll see you later. I take her hand off my face and give it a gentle squeeze and walk away to go to my squadron but out of the corner of my eye, I could've sworn she was still reaching out for me.
