I am speechless - Knut went to wake the warden?!
The computer screen beeps - a giant yellow dot has appeared. It must be the warden's signal. It rushes out of the feline district and crosses the prison yard in a blink. It is a lot faster than all those other dots, even the red one. My worry grows - I know the red one is Honorée, so the warden is going to catch up with her soon.
I push my blankets off and get out of the bed. I must access that red door and urge Knut to stop the warden. Since he has woken him, he is responsible for putting that monster back to sleep.
However, Bob won't let me go so easily. He catches me and throws me back to the bed:
"Lie still or I'll add more wounds to your worthless body! We have serious problems here. We've no time for the likes of you."
"You've made Knut wake the warden to catch a defenceless little girl!" I shout. "You're a monster!"
"An escapee! Not a defenceless little girl, but an escapee, who deserves to be punished!" Bob retorts. "Watch carefully. This is what happens when you pathetic humans try to defy the rules."
I try to get up again, but Bob grows claws on his hands and scratches my already-wounded-and-bandaged chest. I scream in pain - the blood trickles off the bandages. Bob pushes me back to the bed so that I have no more power to stand.
At about the same minute, the yellow dot on the screen catches up with the red one and jumps on it. The red dot stops. The blue ones that have been following the yellow dot finally manage to get a hold of the red one. While they're at it, the yellow dot rushes back to the prison ahead of them. A satisfied smile covers Bob's face as he sees this outcome. He pushes the remote control and turns the computer screen off.
"It's done," he says. "Now she's going to get what she deserves."
"You fiend!" I snarl. I try to stand, but my wounds sting and I fall back to the bed. "Both Knut and you are monsters! Where is he? I'm going to spit into his stupid face!"
"Whenever the warden leaves the facility, someone has to guard his chamber for him..." Bob mutters. "Don't worry, when he returns, you too will receive your punishment."
"I'm not afraid of either of you!"
I won't leave this be. I'll remember this occasion so that when I'm in shape, I can make both of these bobcats pay for all their cruelty. How could they wake the warden when it concerned a twelve-year-old child?!
"Lockdown deactivated. The prison personnel can leave their offices. The prisoners of the different districts are back under their respective headmen's jurisdiction. The warden has returned to his office. We repeat: the warden has returned to his office."
After the announcement has sounded, I indeed hear some noise come from beyond the red door. Soon, it opens, to reveal Knut. He closes the door behind him and walks to the armchair with a grim look. I can tell he's upset. But I am even more so - he's done something atrocious, and I'm never going to forgive him. Bob, on the other hand, meets him with a smile:
"Well done, Knut_"
"Shut up!" he snarls. He takes a seat in his armchair. "You don't praise me for this."
He grabs the yarn from the bedside table and furiously rolls it in his hands. If it works as a stress-reliever for him, then I guess he must really be on his nerves.
"I certainly do," Bob replies. "We've stopped an escapee."
"It was only a child, Bob - a defenceless child!" Knut scratches the yarn. "Why do we always have to do this?"
