I'm a little too lazy to watch the episodes while I write this since it's like 2 in the morning but I'll try and rely on my "i watched this season 6 times" memory o (>‿<✿)
As excepted, the first set against Shiratorizawa was NOT in Karasuno's favor. The score had stayed in favor of Shiratorizawa as Tanaka was finally able to land a spike and get a point for his team.
' it's five to one...' (y/n) but her nails in anxiety as the game continued on with little to no advantages given to Karasuno. The one thing she could say was that nobody on the team was playing bad it was just that Ushijima was over powering them at the moment and he wasn't even using all of his power. Not to mention that his left handed ness was giving Yuu a hard time while he tried to dig up spikes.
She wrote in her clip board as Tsukishima jumped up to block a ball, being at the perfect position, but he still wasn't able to stop it.
"Huh?" "What was that?" "He was right there!" She sighed at the audible confusion from the student body behind her. Although she didn't know much about him, she knew that Tsukishima had some kind of inferiority complex. More than likely, he wasn't using his full confidence with that block, thinking that he would lose anyway, making Wakatoshi over power him.
"Come on Tsuki! I'm counting on you-"
Noticing the pained look on his face, (y/n) hoped up as the time out bell rung, grabbing some bandages and running to Tsuki.
"Tsukishima, you know that you can do it, right?" He looked down at her for a second before scoffing while she wrapped his finger.
"That's easier said than done."
Her eyes trailed him as he walked back on the court, hearing the end of the timeout.
"Alright guys! Relax relax re-" (y/n) bit her lip gently when she noticed who was up to serve.
Ushijima.
She hadn't gotten butterflies from him in a while, but for some reason the way his uniform hugged him and the intense look in his eyes made her grip the clipboard a little harder and bite her lip with a little more power. Why did he look so good?
When he was in a game, all senses were making sure that the ball fell on the opposite side of the court to score his team points. So it didn't surprise (y/n) that when their eyes met for a brief second, there was no change in his expression and the serve that followed was nothing less of perfect.
She exhaled a breath that she didn't even know she was holding.
"That's alright! Don't mind!" (y/n)'s eyes were still a bit shocked from the serve but it started to pump her up more. Looking on the court, she could also feel the determination in everyone. She loved that on the court they truly were a murder of crows, becoming the strongest they could be and letting go of their weaknesses along the way.
The next serve from Wakatoshi went straight to Nishinoya who was actually able to get it up.
"Noya!!!!!" (y/n) covered her mouth from her sudden outburst as a blush spread to her cheeks and Ukai and Takeda laughed at her. She held the clipboard even closer to her as Tanaka scores a point, allowing them to catch a vital break.
After that, it was finally time for Hinata to come into the game.
"This is where it gets interesting." (y/n) smiled wickedly as she looked at the other side of the court. She knew that Ushijima had a particular grudge again Kagehina but Hinata especially. Sugawara was subbed in too, probably going to try his tactical serves again.
However, the point was taken back by Shiratorizawa and Tsukishima was subbed back in right away. "Darn it, i like seeing Sugamama play..."
"Don't mind it guys!" (y/n) yelled while scribbling on the clip board, a sudden adrenaline was starting to run through her and she knew this game would be one that would never be forgotten.
Soon it was match point for Shiratorizawa and (y/n) had a feeling that Karasuno wouldn't be able to take this set. But it was only an experimental set really, so it was no big deal. To her at least.
Just when her hopes were going down, Hinata and Kageyama decided to try a broad jump.
"Ah yeah-" The excitement was paused suddenly as Ushijima was able to easily receive his spike, making (y/n) bite her nails again in anxiety. The opposing team took that point and (y/n) couldn't help but pout openly as she glared at Ushijima.
He seemed to feel her glares because as if telepathically, he mouthed 'guess you aren't getting that date you asked for' and her cheeks heated up. 'just wait and see.' she mouthed back in annoyance. He was nothing short of amazing. That small convo was enough for Tendou to catch up on and he looked between the two then at some of his own players in confusion and another emotion that he couldn't quite identify. Maybe surprise or suspicion...?
The mood went back to normal in a split second and it was all or nothing still. (y/n) stood up to switch sides of the court and turned her eyes slightly as she felt a pair of eyes on her. Turning and seeing it was Tendou with an intense look his eyes, she turned back around, hiding beside Noya and bending down a bit to get rid of the feeling.
"Are you ok, (y/n?)" She nodded at his question, knowing that if she said something about the glaring, he would probably start a petty fight over nothing.
"You guys are doing amazing by the way. I knew you'd be able to take Ushijima's served and spikes, right???" She pat his head and he grumbled slightly. "I'm not a little kid, y'know. We're the same age!" She rolled her eyes and walked away. "Not in my eyes!"
On the other side of the court, the team was gathered together when Tendou finally tore his eyes away from the (h/c) haired girl and brought his eyes forward to make eye contact with Ushijima, who had already noticed where his eyes were trailed from.
"Ushijima, do you know that #10 on their team? You seem a bit competitive~" Wakatoshi looked at him and shrugged, drinking from his water bottle.
"I met him on the streets. He was with the setter. I hate their baseless confidence." He drunk the water again with a sour face, preparing his mind for the next set and how to keep warming up his power.
"Do you know their manager?" Ushijima choked a bit and a few of the other boys looked at him in confusion. Tendou narrowed his eyes and Ushijima averted his gaze, bring the bottle down.
"Not really. She knows a family friend of mine. She was also with those two when I met them for the first time, why?" He glared at Tendou slightly as a warning and the red head shrugged his shoulders, turning away.
"Well seeing you get worked up makes me want to go even harder. I guess it's time for me to put my skills to good use, huh?" Goshiki and Ohira exchanged confused looks at each other before the bell rang signaling the next set.
"We're still going to win anyway." Tendou got into his position on the court as Karasuno did the same. He would not let this be an easy game for them, no matter who Ushijima knew on their team.
