"Okay father I'm leaving, do you need anything else before I go?" I questioned looking at my father who laid comfortably on his bed.

He opened his (e/c) eyes nodding his head. "W-Water." He requested.

I nodded grabbing the cup that rested on the small table beside his bed. I gently lifted his head up before pressing the clay cup against his lips. He took a few big gulps before pulling away satisfied. I laid his head back onto his pillow and put the cup back onto the small dresser. "Any request for dinner?"

"Fish and olives." He told me.

"Okay." I agreed watching my father close his eyes to go back to sleep. I frowned already seeing the sweat forming in his forehead. Using the back of my hand I wiped it off wishing from him to be more comfortable.

I took my leave walking out his door. "(F/N) one more thing." I paused peering back into his room that was illuminated by the sun shining out his window. It gave my father look like a corpse. I shook my head.

"Yes, father?" I called back wanting to leave.

"Find a proper suitor." A smirk was on his wrinkling face as he kept his eyes close. "A suitor who can take care of me."

I stared at my father annoyed but I couldn't fight the smile that worked itself onto my face.

"Make sure he's suited for housework, I doubt you'd want him to work your sheep." He added chuckling.

I rolled my eyes. "Your sheep." I corrected him.

He only hummed not willing to argue with me. Or he knew it would be better for us both if they remained his sheep. Men wouldn't take a female shepherd seriously.

"Goodbye," I said walking out of his room closing the door behind me. Our house was rather small with only one room, a small kitchen, and a small family room. The kitchen and family room were connected as the kitchen was just a bunch of food on top of a table that had four chairs.

Despite its small size, it was quite comfortable, it probably helped that there were only two of us who lived here. My mother left my father right after I was born as she decided to marry a foreign prince. She did come back to take me with her but I could never leave my heartbroken father. After what mother did to him, I never wanted to see her face again.

I opened our small wooden door that creaked from moving. The bright sun shined down on the green grass as it swayed peacefully in the blaze. I grinned a bit as I noticed the flock of sheep perk up looking towards me. My eyes drifted inside my home to a staff that leaned against the door. It was a dark brown staff that reached well above my head.

I grabbed it the smooth wood under my fingers made me smile proudly at the craftsmanship. Bringing it into the sun the wood seems to become a bit glossy showing off the small design of a sheep embodied in the piece of wood. On the other end of the staff, an embodied picture of the sun rested.

"Follow me," I ordered closing the door as I headed closer to the sheep. I lifted the staff above my head immediately catching the attention of all the sheep. I walked past them hearing the sound of their hooves hitting the ground behind me.

I grinned a bit as I lead them away from my home and to a place that had taller grass. As I lowered my arm holding the staff, all the sheep scattered going off the find food. I perched myself on a rock watching the sheep. They were good making sure not to wander too far and staying in small groups.

My gaze drifted over the small area. It was big with grass that reached the sheep's sides. A few trees were planted here and there only making a little shade. It was odd since it felt like the sun was always burning me. But it was normal at this point

Though my friend complained about it being cold even when it was a bright and sunny day. I grinned thinking about my friend, Perseus. He was a demigod son of Zeus. It's the title that's kept most of my suitors from coming back a second time. Though Perseus himself was a lovable dork.

"(F/N)!" Speak of the devil and he shall appear. I turned around to see a boy with ruffled black hair and beautiful blue eyes. That is Perseus.

I grinned waving at him. He reached my side panting with a giant grin on his face. His cheeks were slightly red with sweat on his forehead. His white toga was stuck to his body showing off his small stature. "What are you doing all the out here?" I questioned worry in my voice.

Perseus was a bit younger than me making me see him as a little brother. A very worrying little brother.

Perseus's smile shrinks a bit at my tone but didn't face. "King Polydectes summoned me."

I frowned at the name of the king. "Was he asking for your permission to wed your mother, again?" I asked in a monotone voice used to the king's schemes.

Perseus shook his head allowing a few drops of sweat to me. I pouted wiping the disgusting liquid off of me. "Nope! He gave me a quest."

I raised an eyebrow crossing my arms over my chest. "A quest?" I repeated. He nodded enthusiastically. "What was it?"

"He wants me to kill the Gorgon Medusa." He told me.

"Ah, the one that can turn you to stone with a single glance?" I asked watching Perseus's smile never fading.

"That's her." He said not fazed.

"And your not at all suspicious about it?" I questioned him. Perseus sat next to me crossing his legs as he pouted at me.

"I know its trick for him to get with my mother," Perseus admitted looking annoyed at the king. "But it's not like I can refuse a quest from the king."

I sighed as Perseus leaned against me. I didn't mind as I leaned my head onto his. "Okay then. When are we leaving?"

Perseus immediately pulled away making me look at him confused. "We?" He questioned confused.

I grinned ruffling his dark hair. "Like I'm going to let you go on a dangerous quest by yourself."

I jumped as two arms wrapped around me and Perseus pushed his face into my chest. I could only sigh with a smile growing on my face. "Okay, okay we better get going before the sun sets."

"Yeah." Perseus agreed pulling away from me. He's blue eyes shined in determination as the wind gentle ruffled his hair giving him a dramatic look. "The quest of a lifetime."

AN

I'm not too sure when Perseus started his quest for Medusas head but based on Ancient Greek stuff. Boys were counted as men when they reached thirteen and since the reader is about 19 for the purpose of this story Perseus will be about 14 to 15 years old.
