Warnings: Mentioned abuse, sad Remus, blood, let me know if I missed anything.
3rd person POV:
The two groups searched the mindscape for the lost prince, the dark sides and Thomas taking the darker space in the mindscape. While the light sides took the light sides of the mindscape.
"Remind me why I have to help you search this part of the mindscape again." Thomas said as they left the light sides house.
"Because we know this place better than anybody and the light sides know theirs," Janus started, clearly hoping Remus would butt in.
"Plus," Remus chimed in, seeing Janus's look, "Virgin isn't a dark side anymore, and, uh, the light sides would be more... Productive and safer in their own territory." He finished off.
"Virgin?" Thomas asked.
The group was nearing the border now.
Remus smirked, while Janus rolled his eyes.
"Yup!" Remus said cheerfully.
The group now came to the border, all bright, unable to see the other side. Janus grabbed Thomas's arm and led him in, Remus carefully following.
Seeing as Thomas had never been to this part of the mindscape before, he stood for a moment to take in it's details. After a moment, he asked:
"Why is it night?"
The two sides glanced at each other, silently asking who would explain it.
"Well," Janus said. "It's because this is the dark side of the mindscape. Everything here is darker..." He said, trying to avoid the eye contact Thomas was persistent with.
Remus saw Janus's discomfort and tried to take the attention off of the snake.
"And stranger..." Remus said, turning the attention to him as intended.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Thomas asked, slightly frightened by the looks in their eyes.
"You'll find out soon." Remus said, "for now, we have to find my brother..."
************
As the trio walked through the dark mindscape, Thomas began to notice Remus's constant worry and fear. Deciding if he should say something, he brought it up while the boys were searching the graveyard next to the door to the imagination.
"Remus?" Thomas called, while approaching both of the sides, standing next to each other pointing out things they refused to share.
The pair spun around to meet Thomas's face.
"Yes?" He finally responded.
"Why is it you two seem worried? I thought you and Roman hated each other."
Remus paused for a moment, obvious tears in his eyes that he was fighting back.
"Actually, Roman hates me... I don't really hate Roman." He chokes out. Unintentionally letting those tears spill as it's said.
Thomas stared in shock for a moment.
Janus watched carefully as the emotions unfolded, how dramatic their lives became, and decided to clear the tension a bit.
"Well, uh, we should keep looking around. Remus, I'm sure we'll find him soon enough. Okay." Janus said slowly, as if choosing his words as the past came out of his mouth.
Remus nodded before mumbling a quiet "Okay Jan-Jan." As Thomas still stared in disbelief and sympathy. He had never felt so bad for the dark sides. And had even doubted before if they had the capacity to feel emotions.

RomanceThe dark sides were always close, but Remus had never talked about how he really felt. Alone. Disturbing. And how he never was really happy with the way he was treated by Thomas and the others. Especially Roman.
