Remus POV:
I checked all over the mindscape. Light and dark sides. Then I checked home again in the hopes I had been overreacting. He wasn't anywhere. So I sprinted over to the last place I hadn't checked. The imagination.
When I got there, I yelled out for him.
"DEE! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
No response. As I walked farther into the imagination, my worries started to grow. Suddenly, I bumped into someone... Patton? Logan?
"What on earth...?" I mumbled jus loud enough for them to hear.
"Hi kiddo! We decided to come and help you out a bit." Patton said.
"Don't worry, Virgil's on board with it." Logan spoke up "We simply thought it would be best to leave him behind to be sure Roman doesn't try and stop us." He finished. I hugged them both. They were clearly surprised at how out of character this was, but hugged back anyway.
"Thank you."Deceit POV:
As I sat there, I started to wonder what was happening. And then it crossed my mind that I had merely ducked out (quack). Just as Virgil did when Thomas had first started his series. Well... if Thomas was still against lying, then I had done the right thing.
After a few more hours, I heard a voice. It was calling out ny name. Remus?!?!?! Why in the world would he be looking for me. As much as I wanted to run into his safe and welcoming arms, I couldn't give in. Wait... safe and welcoming arms? Did I really just think that? Weird. My mind travelled back to reality. I had to make sure he couldn't see me. So I started climbing the tree I had been leaning on.
As the hours passed. I heard the voices getting fainter. And one of them said something about having to go home. Patton...? Logan...? Why were they looking for me. I stayed up in the tree just to be sure they had gone. But they would surely come back again tomorrow. So I had to be prepared.
I climbed down the tree. And continued to think. Without warning Remus popped into my mind. You have a crush on him! WHAT?!?!?! Not a chance. But the more I thought about him, the more I liked the idea.
Remus POV:
As the hours passed we had to go home. Patton offered to let me stay with them because it would be too painful to go home without Dee. Virgil offered to share his room with me and made me a nice bed on the floor. I was glad to be back with my old friend and happily accepted. Roman didn't seem to like the idea of me sharing a room with Virgil. Especially considering he had liked Virge for the longest time.
I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep, and neither would the insomniac. So I started a conversation.
"Hey V?" I said.
"Whoa. You're still up?" He responded.
"Yeah. I can't seem to sleep knowing that Deceit could be in danger."
"Do you like him?"
I blushed a bright scarlette. Which was hidden by the dark luckily.
"N-no way!"
"Sure."
We talked for a little while longer. Before I suddenly got an idea.
"Hey Virge?"
"Hmm?"
"What if we got Roman to help us look for Dee...?"
"Why would you think that?"
"Because he's a better finder than anyone I've ever met. If anyone could find Dee, it would be him."
"How do you know that?"
"I'm his brother, I know everything about him."
"Ok then... But how would we even get him to look with us?"
I thought for a moment.
"Well Virge, maybe you could convince him...?"
"What? Why me?"
"I mean, you're his best friend right? And I mean, don't tell him I told you this... but he's had a huge crush on you since we were kids."
Virgil stayed silent for a moment, but finally said,
"He does...? How do I know you aren't lying to me?"
"Because I can't find a reason to lie about something like this. And also, because lying has alwayd been Dee's thing. I literally stand for 'the brutal truth', not just intrusive thoughts."
He seemed to be considering it.
"Fine."The next morning
Roman POV (weren't expecting this):
I walked out for breakfast as always,, thinking about the whole situation at hand. Of course I pitied Deceit. But he was still a dark side. And darksides caused harm to Thomas. They were the reason the world isn't innocent or good.
My mind wondered to Virgil and Remus. I wasn't comfortable knowing that they were gonna be sleeping in the same room. I didn't want Remus to try anything or hurt Virgil. Even though I doubted that he would.
In the middle of breakfast, Virgil said he had a question for me. And Remus looked hopeful. Oh dear lord, what are they up to? The table went quiet as Virge started to speak.
"Um... Ro, I know you might be hesitant with this idea but... hear me out ok." Not a good sign already. "Remus told me that you were a particularly good finder. The best one out of any one us." I nodded. Somehow stunned Remus would have anything pleasant to say about me. "So we were talking, and got to wondering if maybe you could... help us all find Deceit...?" I sighed.
"Not a chance." I said. He looked at Remus for a second, before his gaze turned to me.
"I know you don't like the idea, but please hear me out."
"Fine."
I listened as he went on a whole thing about how lying can be good and how intrusive thoughts make us more aware. And how both aim to protect. He ended the explanation with a "please?" I hesitated, but still shook my head. He sighed.
"But Remus is your brother. And family helps each other. And Deceit was his only friend for the longest time. And lying... is acting." He finished.
"What...?" I asked just above a whisper. My voice came out soft and surprised.
"Without lying... there wouldn't be acting." He said once more. The table went silent. All eyes were on me by now. I looked at Virgil, who gave me a small hopeful smile. And then I looked at my brother. Who had always been there for me. Who I had left for my own selfish needs and insecurities.
I got up and walked to the other end of the table, where Remus sat. I reach my hand out and he took it and stood up. Without letting go, I hugged him. The whole room was in shock. But Remus hugged back and listened as I mumbled sorrys and such into his ear. When I let go of the hug I looked at the table, then back at my brother.
"I'll help you no matter what."

I honestly have nothing to say about this other than it is the cheesiest thing I've ever written.
