"Who the hell are you?" Jack had swung open the door and started without hesitation.
"What d'you mean, who the hell am I? Who the hell are you ?" A new male voice replies rather rudely. To be quite honest just from this guy's attitude I wasn't his biggest fan.
I turned to the Doctor and he seemed to have a similar annoyed expression. It must be Mickey.

In an attempt to avoid a confrontation with this new stranger, I go back to my original position under the console even though I have finished my task; it provided the best space for me to observe Mickey now that he had forced his way into the Tardis, seemingly tired of Jack's antics.
"Don't tell me, this must be Mickey." Jack seemed shocked yet almost slightly disgusted at Mickey's entrance.
"Here comes trouble! How're you doing, Ricky boy?" The Doctor cheerfully greets.
I don't listen to Mickey's response as I subtly move far away from the part of the console Rose is standing at, as the two reunite.
My attention is then brought to Jack, who complains to the Doctor about "Never getting any of that." I was confused at first but when I saw Rose and Mickey hugging I understood.
"Buy me a drink first."
"You're such hard work."
"But worth it."
I must admit that the small exchange between the Doctor and Jack made me laugh, sadly that caused more attention to be drawn to me. Mickey now knew I was there but couldn't see me. Great.
Both Jack and the Doctor turn slightly in my direction with a grin.
Mickey seemed confused and tried to look for me but is distracted by Rose and her questions about her passport.
Surely she wouldn't need a passport as we had the Tardis, but I guess it puts her own mind at rest, it can't hurt to be prepared. Over prepared, sure. But prepared none the less.
Once again using my ability to get trapped in my thoughts, miss most of the conversation and manage to hear a slight disappointed Mickey saying how it sounded as if Rose was going to continue travelling on the Tardis. I could feel the atmosphere getting slightly awkward as Mickey gets no reply .
"So, what're you doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with big-ears up there."
At this comment I had to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing too loud.
"Oi!." The Doctor pretends to be offended, only to smirk lightly as he glances at me struggling to keep my composure.
"Look in the mirror." I could hear the playfulness in Mickey's voice and begin to relax slightly.
Jack and Mickey then begin to bicker slightly as I ponder when I should reveal myself.
'Don't worry I will give you the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself.' Once again the Doctor has caught me by surprise and I almost hit my head... again.
'Thanks, I'm not the best in social situations like this, up don't really want to make a fool of myself.'
'You won't, I promise, and even if you did it wouldn't be a big of a deal you have me, Rose and Jack to help you out.'
It was true, all of a sudden I had all these people, strangers really, all willing to help me get use to a more normal life.

Gradually, I make my way it from under the console but I continue to sit in the floor, hidden from view. Jack seems to notice and casually stands slightly closer to me, to both comfort me and to shield me from view just in case.
I could now focus on Rose as she began:
"We just stopped off. We need to refuel. Thing is, Cardiff's got this rift running through the middle of the city. It's invisible, but it's like an earthquake fault between different dimensions..."
"The rift was healed back in 1869..." The Doctor continues.
"Thanks to a girl named Gwyneth, 'cos these creatures called the Gelth, they were using the rift as a gateway but she saved the world and closed it." Back to Rose again. Mickey seemed to have a hard time following and in a short pause I could feel the gaze of the Doctor, Rose and Jack signalling me to continue.
With a deep breath I stand at my full height and with as much confidence as I could muster..
"But closing a rift always leaves a scar, and that scar generates energy, harmless to the Human Race." Taking slow steps I reveal myself to Mickey, still standing close to Jack as I see the look of shock and confusion on his face.
Before he could ask a question the Doctor continues our explanation.
"But perfect for the TARDIS, so just park it here for a couple of days right on top of the scar and..."
"Open up there engines, soak up the radiation.." Now it was Jack
"Like filling her up with petrol and off we go!" Rose finishes
"Into time...!"
All of us high-fived and shouted..
"And Space!"
I couldn't help but laugh with the others as we all done our short cheers, moving myself to stand by the Doctor as Mickey has a look of disbelief.
"My god, have you seen yourselves? You all think you're so clever, don't you?"
"Yeah!" I nod along with the Doctor, a grin settled upon my face.
"Yeah!"
"Yep!"
"But I do have one question... who's the kid?"
We all froze and eyes were on me, most held a soft look that encouraged me to speak up.
"(Y/N). My name is (Y/N). It's nice to meet you." I smile politely and try too seem welcoming, even though my shyness leads me to gradually etch behind the Doctor, so he stepped in.
"(Y/N) here is travelling with us now, you got a problem with that?" I was surprised at how quickly the Doctor became defensive and in a not so subtle way too.
Mickey just nods and offers a small smile that lifts a weight off my shoulders.

We all proceed to exit the Tardis and the Doctor explains how we now have some time to kill whilst we wait for the Tardis to refuel.
Mickey complains how an old lady seems to be staring at us. Jack being Jack makes a comment on how she is probably wondering "What four adults could do inside a small wooden box." I roll my eyes and feel slightly uncomfortable at the comment, if I wasn't in the Tardis with them then maybe I could manage more than a weak smile. Even though the Doctor and Rose let out small chuckles, it doesn't stop them elbowing him as they were in the presence of a child.
"What are you captain of. The innuendo Squad." Mickey looks slightly disturbed.
Jack's very mature and totally not childish response was the 'whatever' sign before walking off with and exaggerated pout.
Now this caused me to let out a short laugh as we all trail behind, the Tardis becoming the subject of conversation.
I don't fully listen as I take in the sights of Cardiff, it's not overly crowded and the sun is shining, no complaints so far.
I finally speak up when Rose explains simply that the Tardis looks like the police because "Its a cloaking device."
"It's called a chameleon circuit. The TARDIS is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands, like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something." I explain.
"But I landed it in the 1960s, it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck." The Doctor finished, nodding to me with a proud look at my knowledge.
I zone out once again, to be honest the conversation was not very appealing to me, explaining humans their own history and things that aren't really any of their concern isn't my idea of conversation. This is where me and the Doctor are different, he doesn't mind showing off and explaining things to people as he knows how to actually talk to people. I'm not like that, I was taught to keep quiet and not interrupt unless I have something important to say, so my social skills have taken quiet a beating over the years. I don't mind sitting in silence, as long as I am not alone and left to my thoughts because of it, and listening to what would be seen as normal and natural conversations. I could learn a thing or two just by observing the social interaction of others.

So here we all are at a restaurant in Cardiff bay, Jack telling some stupid story that I am having a hard time believing, the others are slightly sceptical but are having a good time nonetheless.
"I swear, six feat tall and with tusks!"
"You're lying through your teeth!" The Doctor explains. To be honest I wasn't paying much attention again, my head only really pops up when the Doctor speaks.
I soon notice that the Doctor's wide grin had fallen and turned into a frown. I look to what had held his gaze and saw an old man reading the paper, the image of a woman was on the front. Without anyone else noticing the Doctor got up, as Jack continued to rattle on about whatever, he then took the paper out of the guy's hands with a troubled look.
"And I was having such a nice day." This got the others attention, as the Doctor help up the paper with the mayor of Cardiff, Margaret on the front.
The atmosphere changed in an instant as we made our way to where the Mayor's office is located in the town hall, stopping once we get to the top of the stairs inside. It was tense. On the way over no one spoke but the Doctor did inform me about the whole Downing Street incident with an alien family known as the Slitheen, using telepathy. Sounded like an experience and a half.
"According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. (Y/N) you stick with the Doctor.Have you got that?"
We all give Jack a look, surprised how he took charge so quickly
"Excuse me, who's in charge?" The Doctor has a look of disbelief, giving Jack an almost cold stare. I had to smirk at the exchange, you couldn't deny it was a good plan with a very small chance if failure.
"Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir." Out of the corner of my eye I could just catch the slight grimace on his face when being called sir. No one else seemed to notice.

Armed with their phones, we all split up and went to our areas.
