Chapter 24: Near Death, But Not Quite

Malachite's POV:

Ratchet desperately pleads me to remain awake, but the icy pain in my back, the wet feeling of energon, and the sky darkening, doesn't help, and I slowly drift off.

"Aww Hon, you gotta fight it." A femme's voice tells me, warmly but firmly.

"What?" I sit up quickly, and see that we are on Cybertron, the dead planet, our home planet.

"Malachite, I know you've lost your memory, and the world is scary and confusing, but you gotta fight it." A femme with a black paint job with red, silver and gold swirls for detailing tells me. She offers a hand, which I take and get to my peds.

"Who are you? Who am I?" My questions don't seem to change her happy expression.

"I am Overdrive, friend of Optimus and Ratchet. And you my friend, are the mighty Ultra Malachite, the upgraded female version of Ultra Magnus, and mother of the prettiest sparkling ever known." Overdrive replies, and with a wave of her hand, a scene flashes through my optics.

"Ratchet, I'm with sparkling!" I say, joy warming my body, and Ratchet wraps his arms around me happily.

Optimus shares the same happy face, it's nice seeing him smile like that.

What?! Was that a memory?

"Show me more!" I tell Overdrive, but she shakes her helm.

"Hon, you gotta remember yourself. I can't be the hero today, but you can."

"Remember what? Is Ratchet really..." I trail off, confusion tearing at my spark.

I lean down and passionately kiss Ratchet, who's laying on the Medical Bay, one hand holding mine and the other wrapped around me in affection. He gently embraces the kiss, kind and sweet.

This time, a shock pains my processor as I receive this flashback.

"AHH!" I gasp in pain. "Why does it hurt?"

"I can't answer everything." Overdrive shakes her helm again. "But Hon, that was a romantic setup for your first kiss with Ratchet, lemme tell ya."

First kiss first kiss first kiss... RATCHET'S MY SPARKMATE!

This time when the shock hits, I remember everything. Mithra, Emma, Alto, everything.

"Overdrive?" I turn around,  but she's gone, and the world is fading away.  "Noooo!"

Ratchet's POV:

Malachite's spark is still beating, she's still breathing, but she appears to be in recharge, murmuring something about... Overdrive?! Overdrive thank you! I scoop her up and nod to Everence, and we begin to walk back to the caves.

Alto is dead. I tell myself, still in disbelief. Vess is gonna kill somebody, and that one may be me...

Malachite stirs in my arms, and I'll be scrapped she says,  "Overdrive please don't leave me!"

Everence sends me a worried glance, but I just shake my helm.

"Overdrive will help her, she helped me." I tell her as we enter the caves.

"Primus!" Arcee gasps.

Optimus shakily gets to his peds, I'm too panicked to tell him to sit back down, and nears me.

"Best you patch up the wound, and hopefully she will wake." He murmurs to me, and I nod, letting out a sigh of grief.

She may never wake...
