Dark streets filled the spaces between houses, steps occasionally echoed and distant sounds of drunken songs filled the barren streets. The soft sound of leaves seemed to mask it all as the wind picked up and slowly Elora slipped into her dreamland.
Hours slipped by, completely unnoticed until a loud thud could be heard. As if second nature, Elora jumped from her bed and collided with something. Her hands reached out and found it to be another human. His hands met her hair and she was brought to stand. Eyes were barely able to open, nevermind, focus. Her hands moved out but could grasp nothing before her knee was then lifted and met his leg. A ray of light hit something shiny and before Elora could grasp what was going on he began to plunge it in her direction. Her hand sprung out and clasped it, pain beginning to ring through her body before it was taken from his hand and then thrown to the other side of the room.
Desperate hands reached out and clung to the best thing that they could before Elora was bringing up her knee again. His hair was found and she pulled just like he had been at the start. Elora shot her leg out and tripped him up before her hand clasped his head and smashed it on the closest surface.
Loud breaths left them both as Elora pinned him down. Her draws were rummaged through until her handcuffs were pulled out and he was cuffed. Elora had to run her hands through the darkroom until her phone was found and brought to her field of view.
"Hello, yes. I would like to report a crime. I live at 32 ******* road. I woke up to a noise and suddenly a man was attacking me." Her voice wobbled as her breaths were still rapid and deep.
"Can I take your name and ask if he is still in the house? You sound out of breath but you also seem to have a clear head which is good." The worker sounded tired as she spoke but Elora was struggling to focus on the words.
"Uh, yes he is in my house. I am Elora Burton, look, I am FBI so you don't have to try and keep me calm, I just need him out of my home." The subtle mention was clearly noticed as the responder sounded more awake with her next words.
"Police are on their way now. Were either of you badly hurt and do you recognise him?" Elora's eyes looked and attempted to focus but her mind was moving too fast.
"No, it's dark, I can't see him. I think that he could be hurt, I hit his head on something but I can hear him breathing and he keeps moving. His heartbeat is normal, considering what just happened." The line kept busy as they spoke for a while before the sound of sirens could be heard and the phone was eventually hung up.
Elora stood and brought the man with her, a hand lifting to the switch to turn the light on. A cold wind blew in from the open window and Elora shivered before making her way to the door. It was still ajar from the last person who had entered, however, the police kept their guns up until they saw the pair.
"I am Officer Steal. I see that you have got the situation under control. Let one of my men take him and then we can talk. Maybe you can show me what room both of you fought in." Elora pushed him forward and he slightly tripped before walking out of the house with a police escort.
"My bedroom. The only room that should have a door open. If more than one is open then he has been in there. Uh, he had a knife and I threw it somewhere. I was a little dizzy." A paramedic walked in with a smile just as officers began to walk up the steps.
"Can I check you over?" Elora then nodded before being brought to sit in the dining room.
"Two or three years ago now I was taken. Six men took me but only five were caught and a year ago, someone kidnapped my brother before breaking into my house. The agents working the case claimed that it had nothing to do with work, just a coincidence." The police officer took notes before sitting down with her.
