Pen met paper as the phone was held, Elora had been noting down something throughout the whole profile. The other officers were intensely listening to every word that Hotch and JJ spoke but she had heard the profile well over a hundred times. The whole time dark eyes watched on, to the point that others were beginning to see as well. Spencer didn't have to tell the team that they didn't get along because Derek could do that all on his own.
"Midnight. Can you do fieldwork now?" Black hair snapped up and she met Rossi's eyes, nodding. White teeth shining through a slight smile.
"We can go to question some neighbours then." The book was closed and the pen snapped down. The front of the book was plain and black and the pen was too."What's in the book?" Morgan snapped as she passed. Her hand was slipping into the pocket of her trousers to pull out her phone.
"Nothing important. I will go grab my gun and badge Rossi." She didn't seem annoyed or even remotely upset by his behaviour as she passed him by.
"What is your problem with her?" Emily seemed to break the heavy silence.
"Garcia did a background check. I still wasn't sure about her after the suspicious last time she was involved with the team. This woman has massive gaps in her work, apparently working at some local shops. Getting paid next to nothing compared to here. When she does come back she is there for a while, until a day or two before the case is closed properly. Never seeing a case through. Garcia saw that her name was also mentioned in other cases. She couldn't read the case files but all she could find was that the cases all famously had leaks. The leads of the cases died. Her life before the FBI is nonexistent, not even a university." The team all seemed to be split about the matter.
"Maybe she was put into witness protection. None of us has a nice past. Things we want to forget. Garcia said that she couldn't read the files, maybe there is an innocent explanation." There seemed to be a defensive reflex for Rossi as he spoke of the girl that he worked with.
"She has been distant but she told us that she expected to be pulled off the case days before it is up like she always is. Would you take the time to open up and get to know everyone? If she has some bad memories as well, Midnight would be defensive. You haven't made her feel all that welcome either." Trying to reason with Derek seemed useless as even Spencer lost. They all just looked to Hotch.
"She is a member of our team and has given us no reason to doubt her. I will trust her for now but if she acts suspiciously then we can talk to Strauss. Perhaps we should all just keep an eye on..." The door swung open slowly and a look was sent to Rossi, making him leave with her.
"I bet that book of hers has something in that will prove that I am right. She isn't even used to wearing her belt yet." Derek left shortly after as he went to work.
"This is going to cause an issue and I have a feeling that we have not heard the end of this." Emily hushed out before picking up her phone and making a call. Spencer shortly followed as she walked out of the room.
"We should just go over their work and see if we can add to it." The board was laid out just like it would normally. Notes sprawled all over the board and paper was stuck to it.
"Homemade? The unsub could have made their own chloroform. They would need a lot of space to do that, surely. Call Reid." JJ tried but after the third failed attempt she gave in. The ringing became unbearable to her.
"He isn't available. Derek and Midnight were there, perhaps we could call one of them. He could have said something about how or what would be needed." JJ turned to her phone again and made it play through the speaker.
"Derek, did Spencer mention anything about what would be needed if this unsub was to make chloroform?" Raised voices echoed in the background on Derek's end.
