"I will, don't worry." Sam hung up and thought of all that could happen if her father saw Sam and realised that he wasn't one of his guests.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Simran came to her "What is it Durga."
"Nothing mum, why are you here?"
"I was looking for you, your dad is calling you." Durga silently nodded and followed her mum to meet her father."It's good your mum found you quickly."
"I was just outside, not too far dad."
"That's good. I want you to meet some people." he paused and pulled her closer to him.
"Durga meet Mr and Mrs Khurana and their son Veer Khurana."
"Nice to meet you all, happy Diwali." Durga managed a small smile and got the message- a prospective groom.
"Veer is only two years older than you, but I know you'll both get along well."
"Excuse me, I have to attend to something now." Durga said and immediately left the group with anger which managed to avoid staying off her face.
"Sargum where are you all going to?"
"To light crackers dear... someone is waiting for you around the corner. It's urgent." Sargum winked at her and walked off.
She walked off and suddenly got pulled to the side, she shreiked "Sameer!!!"she covered her mouth immediately as though she had said something wrong.
"What's wrong." Sam asked and she shook her head as her eyes met his.
"I'm surprised you came." and he answered immediately "Have I ever lied to you, I meant it and now I'm here."she nodded.
"We should go to my room." they went up when Simran called out.
"Durga where are you going to?" Durga stopped in her tracks and turned to face Simran. "I'm feeling sick mum, so I want to rest a bit."
"Are you sure you're not okay dear?"
"Yes mum."
"If you want, we can call a doctor. Dr. Sarna is here, he wouldn't mind examining you."
"You worry too much mum. I'll be fine."
"If you say so, I wanted you to join us outside. We'll be lighting crackers soon."
"If I get better earlier, I'll come down. If not, we'll wait till next year."
"Alright if you need anything call me okay."
"Okay mum, have fun." Durga walked up to her room before closing the door behind her and giving out a sigh.
"That's a relief. My mum almost caught us." She let out a long breath "And if she did, what could have happened?"
"Sam, I'm serious it was a close call."
"Okay Durga I understand." she joined him on the bed and laid her head on his chest."
"What are we going to do now." She asked as she gently stroked his chest.
"We'll watch a movie." Sam answered and Durga hesitantly sat up "And after that?"
"I'll leave." Durga frowned and avoided his face "Then I won't watch the movie."
"And why?" He asked "The movie may only stay for an hour or two and you'll just leave me again. I don't like that Sam, it makes me lonely." Durga complained.
"Then I'll tell Laila that you didn't appreciate her idea." he countered and stood up from the bed. Durga held his arm tightly to stop him.
"No, don't go Sam, I'll watch it but don't leave like this." Sam sat down again and took a deep breath. He extended his right hand to Durga's which was still on his arm.
"I won't leave Durga, you know our dilemma now but that doesn't mean that we won't overcome this. We'll do what we can do for now and hope for the best in the future."
Durga gave no response but rested her head on his shoulder. In an hour and half, the movie ended.
"Tell Laila that I loved the movie."
"I won't forget to but it's time I leave."
"Does your uncle know that you're here?"she asked. "I don't think so, I told uncle Ronak that I'll be out for a while but I didn't tell him where I planned to be at."
"We still have to do some things."
"Like what?"
"This isn't our first Diwali Sam have you forgotten."
"I can't Durga, I was only kidding."
"I don't like that, let's go." Durga and Sameer headed to the swimming pool with a lamp, matches and crackers.
Durga lit the lamp and held it to Sameer's eyes "I love you Sameer, don't ever forget that."
"No matter how much you remind me Durga, I won't ever forget how much you love me and I love you." he said and kissed her forehead.
They held the lighted lamp and placed it in the swimming pool before lighting some crackers together.
