"You know what you have to do" my mother said through the phone.

"I don't have to mother!" I raised my voice "you know I don't have to" I said more calmly this time.

Apparently my mother thought it would be a good idea for me to marry one one my old flames, whose dad was a major entrepreneur, she thought it would be for the good of the company.

"Please son, do this for me" I heard a crack in her voice "do this for your father"

"Don't bring father into this, what the hell does he have to do with all this? From all I can see this company is doing fine on its own, it doesn't need a ridiculous marriage to make it more prosperous mother" I paused "unless there's something you're not telling me"

She sighed.

"Actually, there's a lot I'm not telling you".

•Andrea•

He seemed off throughout the day, like he didn't want to see me or something.

It had been 3 weeks since I moved in with Jacob and Ada, it was amazing living with Ada, she was everything I wanted in a friend.

In all my three weeks of living with him, Jacob had his on and off moments, but none of them felt like this, it was like he was going through something serious, like he really could use someone to talk to, he didn't really have any friends.

"Ada, I think there's something up with Jacob" I said pushing my eggs around the plate, that would be my food for the evening.

"Yeah, I figured, he's not usually like this, maybe you should talk to him" she said.

I was actually thinking the same thing.

Later that evening, I found myself in front of Jacobs door, I knocked lightly.
He opened at the second knock.

"Umm can I come in?" I asked.

He looked at me as if to say 'I don't think that's a very good Idea' but he let me in anyway.

I sat on the edge of the bed, he sat on the chair that was usually beside the bed, this time it was in front of me.

"So, I figured something seemed off about you today, you didn't tease my sweater or pull my hair during breakfast and when I tried to talk to you, you just kinda dismissed me" I said.

I sounded ridiculous, I was probably over reacting. The intensity of his stare was too much I looked down at my fingers that were covered almost completely by my sweater.

"You're right, something is off with me" he said with a sigh.

I looked into his green eyes, they were a darker shade.

"My company is failing Andrea" he said, his elbows were on his knees, he looked defeated and sad. "My mother thinks the only way we can get back to the is if I get married to my ex whose father owns a pretty big company" he paused. "She hid it so well from me, and I was too blind to see the red flags and know something was wrong."

He was going to get married? I felt a pang in my heart.

We weren't dating, we were just friends right? This shouldn't hurt a bit, but it did.

I didn't want him to get married, I wanted him to be with me, I actually started having hope, that maybe we could have something, but this just had to happen and ruin everything.

He should get married to whoever. Its how my life is anyways, once something good comes, something even worse comes to take it away.

"You should get married to her"I steeled my heart and said, he looked up at me again.
