"I can't believe you're actually doing this. You literally just found out about all of this and you're already sending me away." Lexy said as her father and her walked through the airport. "Forgive me if I don't nominate you for the father of the year award."

"You can be mad at me now but it's what's best for you." Fred sighed.

"Yeah, apparently everyone knows what's best for me except me." She said under her breath.

"What does that mean?"

Lexy rolled her eyes. That was the only eye contact Fred had gotten from his daughter since she found out she was being sent to this treatment centre.

The two made it to the departures section and took a seat. Fred flipped through a catalogue while Lexy doodled a picture of a plane crashing into the ocean on her hand.

"Not funny." He said when he noticed the drawing.

"Not trying to be."

"Also not changing my mind."

"Yeah cause you're clearly out of it."

The two sat in silence for the next 20 minutes until Fred received a text. Lexy glanced at her dad who had a serious look on his face as he read the screen.

After a couple of minutes of Fred opening his mouth to say something but then closing it, Lexy groaned out loud. "What?"

"It was Betty. She said that Archie was spiralling. He's been drinking and he was just- not in a good place."

Lexy remained unaffected by this news, continuing to stare ahead of her. Fred tapped the arms of his chair and sighed.

"Oh my good Jesus Christ, just go! Go home! Stop Archie from getting himself arrested again." She gestured for him to leave.

"I... I can't just..." Fred scrunched his face, not knowing which child to stay with.

"I am sitting in departures getting ready to board that stupid flight any minute now. I know you think I'm insane but I think I can make it that far."

Fred glanced at his phone one more time before nodding his head slowly. "Okay. You promise me you're okay boarding yourself?"

"I promise." She in monotone.

And with that Fred kissed her on the forehead, knowing she was not going to hug him, and left her alone in departures.

Big mistake.

Lexy's phone buzzed and she slid it out of her pocket. An unknown number.

Unknown:
Back exit. You're welcome.👹

Back exit? She looked around, spotting a sign pointing to an emergency stairwell behind her. She then read the text again. Judging from the emoji she could already guess that this was from the gargoyle.

How did he get her number? She had no idea. But this was her chance to get out of going to this stupid treatment centre.

She stood up, grabbed her suitcase and briskly made her way to the stairwell. It eventually brought her to a glass door with the glowing green exit sign above it. She pushed open the door and laughed hysterically to herself.

"Little tip dad, whenever I promise you something... I'm always lying!" She said through the laughter.

The sound of an engine put her excitement on hold as she spun around to see who it was. The gargoyle, sitting in the driver's seat of an old looking jeep. He stepped out of the car.
