"Jet! Can I ask you an idiosyncratic question?" I stare at him with excitement in the hallways that are filled with kids who are sauntering over the place.
"Did you just search that word up now?" He looks at me strangely. Like saying a big word is totally out of my league.
"Yes, the question is, what are your thoughts about Mary Anne?" I flick my eyes over the girl that I just talked to even though we've been in the same class for two years.
"The mother of Donald Trump?" Jet asked confusingly. Why the hell does he know the name of Donald Trump's mother?
"No dumb ass The Mary Anne that goes into our school." I pointed at her carefully, keeping it low key. Jet looks behind him at her with a flat expression. He already knows Mary Anne because they are partnered in Biology.
"She's peculiar." He nods to himself as if thinking that she has some weird power that he's going to convey them to himself to make up soldiers. Yes, I watch a lot of X-Men.
"Peculiar? What do you mean by that?" Does he mean she's peculiar in a good or bad way?
"I don't know. Just peculiar. Can't I use a strong word too?" I chuckled.
"You're attracted to her aren't you." He said, smirking, like me attracted to a girl is something so mind blowing.
"I talked to her this morning. And there's just something different about her."
"Peculiar." He corrected me.
"Yeah, sure whatever. So I sat next to her in art class right, she was drawing something, but then all of the sudden she just talked to me, which is kinda weird because we never talked before. Anyway, the conversation sorta went like this. 'The boy looks a little blue, don't you think?' She was making a pun about a boy that was drawn blue skinned with a sad face right." Jet nodded but he didn't look quite cared.
"I was surprised you see, to why she was talking to me. So I said nervously, 'Yeah, and it seemed like the others that's surrounding him are too cool.' I said with a 'brr' sound in the cool because the other kids are wearing glasses with cool shits on them but barely any clothes. So they were cold, right?"
"Right, such coincidental drawing." Jet mumbled, grabbing a big black history book from his lockers, it is originally gray but he painted it over with black. The guy loves the color black. He says it's the resemblance of his life and his soul, I know, sounds like a sad Tumblr person ain't he?
"Then she draw a yellow skinned girl near the sad boy, with a bubble speech above the girl's head saying 'yellow, blue boy!'" Jet makes a confused face probably thinking this story is going nowhere.
"You get it? Yellow rhymes with hello, and yellow is the symbol of happiness, the girl is being friendly to the sad boy so he won't feel dejected anymore. This story is going somewhere, right?" When I was done telling him, he was looking up at the ceiling and watching it intently as if he's trying to fix a puzzle, then his head snaps back at me.
"Yeah, Mary Anne seems like a nice young lad." He nodded his head a couple of times.
"Although her drawing is a bit childish but It's just that, I like her perspective, it seems like in her world everything will be fine, like there's always a way to solve anything." There she stood, laughing. I feel a certain thing when I look at her now. Weird.
"Wow. I just found my polar opposites."
"Damn right. Do you think she can be interested in me?"
"Sure, why can't she, you're the man! My man can snatch any girl he wants." Jet wraps his arm around my shoulder. But I know better that most girls aren't really attracted to Asian guys, sorry for being such a downer, but it's just the way it is in this semi-big town. I once asked a girl out in eighth grade and she said I wasn't her type. What could that be possibly mean, right?
"Thanks, babe." Instead I say.
"No problem sweetheart." He winked at me then walked away. I love that piece of shit.
