Mary Anne's
Suddenly, all of our phones in the cafeteria buzzed. Looks like we all got notifications.
We check our phones, and by "we" it's the usual gang, except for Elliot. I wonder where he is.
"Noice! Party at Cooper's. We all coming, right?" Madison, looking ecstatic, is the first person to bring out the topic to the table.
Kendra looks excited as well, Lexi seems a bit nervous, and I on the other hand just stays flat, because I'm not sure if I want to go. At times I really do like parties, as long as it's at other people's house and I'm not drunk and I stay with my friends at all times. But this time, I don't think I want to be a burden to them. So might as well don't go.
"Of course!! I know for a fact it's going to be The. Absolute. Bomb." Kendra exaggerates every word.
"You comin' babes?" Madison asked Lexi and I.
"I don't know..."
"Still thinking. But there's a 90 percent chance I won't come." I shrugged, picking up my wrap.
"Ugh, whyyy?" Madison dragged out the word. "But it's at Cooper's!! His parties are always fun."
If there's a jock as popular as Julian, it would be Cooper. But what makes it different is, as we all know by now, Julian's a straight up asshole. While on the other hand, Cooper is actually a charming guy that you can see in all high school movies, but... there'll be no twists in him. He's just a real genuine person.
"True that! Though, speaking of Cooper, I heard his dad is in jail." Kendra said out of the blue.
"Really? What for?" I asked, stuffing my face with my sandwich.
"My source said it's because of drugs."
"Um, I think it's not true. His dad is just out a lot so people assume that he's in jail." Huh, how does Lexi know about Cooper's dad? As far as I noticed, they never talk to each other.
"Ha! People are so cruel." Madison laughs, so do I.
"How do you know, Lilex?" Oh, so "Lilex" is the nickname that Kendra has prepared for Lexi, cute.
"It's nothing. I used to go out with him in freshman year." Madison choked on her coffee, to be honest it is a shocking ass news. Because we never heard it before, from anywhere.
"No shit Lex! Were you backstreet and stuff?" Madison managed to wipe all that saliva from her mouth. I don't know why, but the term backstreet always seems funny to me.
"I guess. He just never told anyone."
"Why?" Kendra asked innocently.
"I don't know Kend, maybe he's ashamed of me." She's showing a flat face, but little does she know that it doesn't hide the sadness surrounding her face.
"I'm certain that's not true Lex. If I can assume, maybe he has his own reasons. Because for all I know, Cooper's one of the nicest guys there is. Maybe he didn't tell anyone because he's just not the kind of person who likes to tell their friends about their love life." I started to ramble, hoping that I said the right words to make her feel somewhat better.
"Yeah babe, and for the record I have never heard Cooper in any relationships throughout highschool. Maybe he's just keeping it all lowkey." Madison says, looking at Lexi.
Lexi is looking at the table, twirling around her fork. I think she doesn't want us to know she's sad.
"Why did you break up, Lilex?"
