There is an art to losing yourself but you should never lose yourself to fear. Because they say you don’t know what you got until it’s gone. But the truth is, you knew exactly what you had, you just never thought you’d lose it. Because once you lose yourself, you lose everything.

Lucy has been with who I think is Lucas since we arrived in the Training Grounds. I have been nervously wringing my hands since Lucy has been with him.

When I first stepped inside the Training Grounds, I was assaulted with the smell of sweat, hard work and masculinity. In the middle of it all was a boy, no- a man. He had dark hair, a chiseled jaw and most of all- he was shirtless. His muscles seemed to gleam under the light and I must have been staring too long because Lucy laughed at me. It was her laugh that caused his attention.

“Lucy!” His deep voice resonated throughout and everyone turned to her.

I was the one who was embarrassed even though I wasn’t the one called. She went to him; well, more liked skipped to him. I chuckled at her antics and realized that I was left alone. I quickly went to a corner and waited patiently. But as time grew on, I started to get nervous. More so now cause they are now coming my way.

“Bea,” Lucy says, “This is Lucas.” Lucas offers his hand for a shake but I ignore his hand. Just like Lucy, I didn’t shake his hand.

Clearing my throat, “Um, hi.”

“I hope Lucy has been a good tour guide?” He asks me instead.

Lucy scoffs, “Better than good. Right, Lucy?” I chuckle and nod. “See?” Lucy points out to Lucas.

He stares at her with uncertainty and slight amusement. He shakes his head and mutters to himself, “And this is supposed to be one of the leaders of the camp.”

Lucy clearly hears him and gasps. She pouts and touches her heart. “Ouch, Lucas. Ouch.”

We laugh at her and she crosses her arms around her and glares. She looks at me and says, “So, you’re with Lucas now Bea?” I stop laughing immediately scared she is really angry with me.

She bursts in laughter and kneels over.  “Oh, God. You should have seen your face.”

I pout and now it’s my turn to cross my arms. She finishes her laugh and pretends to wipe a tear. I steal a glance at Lucas and see he is smiling at Lucy fondly, almost like a sister. He chuckles at her and I’m embarrassed to say it gave me the shivers. Lucy sees it and grins wider. Damn it, I thought. Keep yourself together man. She grabs me by the wrist and starts to lead me outside.

“You can continue with your training now. Bye!” She shouts over her shoulder.

I turn back to Lucas and wave goodbye but he already turned his back on us. I shrug and just let Lucy drag me anywhere.

“So,” I start, “Where to next?”

Lucy looks at me with a gleam in her eye I don’t understand and grins maniacally, “ Where the real fun is.”
