Do you believe in love at first sight?

Do you believe in fate pairing two people together to share a love with no boundaries? Do you believe in a love that finds its way through the hearts of the loneliest?

I didn’t, but I did believe in a love that grows gradually between two people. I did believe that love is a privilege only given to people who deserve it. I did believe that love will only come to those who are worthy of it but it seems that I am wrong.

I truly believed that I wouldn’t ever feel love. I truly believed that because I was crazy, I would never have the privilege of falling in love, the privilege of feeling the euphoria of falling in love.

I know that the possibility might be the tragic cliché of an unrequited love, but I will keep my hopes up, because when we first laid our wandering eyes on one another, we smiled, and at the particular moment, we both knew that what we felt was something so much more.

I am staring at an angel.

My breath has been stolen from the moment I bumped into him. He radiates an aura that you just want to befriend him. His hair is a golden halo glowing around him. His eyes sparkle with laughter and joy. His smile shines bright like diamonds under the bright light. His body, lean and muscular, is perfect for a warrior’s form. His voice has an Australian accent-

“I’m Zachary.”

I snap out of my trance and try to answer him without embarrassing myself in the process. The keyword, try.

I stammer out my answer while blushing madly. “I’m Beatrice.”

He chuckles at my obvious discomfort. It sounds like heaven has just opened for me.

“God, what a name, don’t you have any other name I can call you?”

I chuckle at his statement and nod. “You can call me Bea.”

He lets out a playful tired sigh. I look at him again and realize he was not present during the assembly. But I know he is a leader of some sort. Who is he?

“What about you Zachary?” I ask him back.

“Oh, I’ve been here since the beginning, you know. I oversaw the progress of the camp and helped Lucas in managing it all. As a matter of fact, I am his second-in-command, after his sister Lucy, of course. And, well, you met Alex, he’s third-in-command.”

I look at him in surprise and confusion. Lucas and Lucy are related? Lucy is the sister of the leader? It must’ve shown on my face because the next thing I know is that Zachary is explaining it to me.

“Lucas Sinclair, the leader and founder of Genesis 1, a group against Armageddon and one of the strongest man I know. Lucas has the power to manipulate water at his own will. Lucy Sinclair, twin sister of Lucas Sinclair, a formidable fighter and skilled warrior. Lucy has the power over the element of fire. She must’ve told you she was a pyromaniac to keep her secret.”

He grins before adding, “And there’s me, Zachary Levi, loyal best friend and second-of command of Lucas Sinclair. You’re probably wondering what my “super powers” are so it is,” He acts as if he is drumming before saying, “Force fields. I can make my own force field and basically because of it, I’m indestructible. And because of the force field it made some sort of mind barrier against mind readers. Cool right?”

And I can only nod at him.

Zachary lights up before saying, “And don’t forget Alexander Chase or what he prefers to be called, Alex. You know his powers, angel wings. Looks like an angel that boy but broody as hell he is.” We both laugh and quiet down.

I still can’t wrap my head around the thought of someone having powers. Since I’m meeting this elder of theirs, I could use some information of them.

“So, can you tell me about this elder I’m supposed to be meeting for my supposed to be powers?”

He was about to open his mouth to explain when I heard someone yelling my name.

I look up and see Lucy was the one who yelled my name. I sigh in disappointment, wishing I had more time with Zachary. I return my attention to Zachary to see he is already watching me.

I look at him apologetically and roll my eyes dramatically, “Got to go. Her highness has called for me.”

He chuckles before saying, “Don’t let her highness wait then.”

I stand up and run towards Lucy. She looks at me with a knowing glint and opens her mouth to say something but I stop her.

“Oh, shush, Lucy. Not a word.”

I look back to see that Zachary is still sitting down where I previously left him and is still looking at me. He raises his hand and tilts it slightly which must be a wave from him and says something along the lines of my name, but I will never know.

I look at Lucy and ask her, “So, is it time?”

I get an excited reaction from her.

“Yes,” She says, “and now I can prove to you I’m right and you do have powers of your own and you’re really not schizophrenic.”

I nod and act like I totally hear her but honestly I am thinking about Zachary.

I think back to our first encounter and can’t help but feel something weird going on in my stomach. A flutter of something that shouldn’t be there in the first place. I know I shouldn’t feel. Emotions can be your own downfall. Emotions can destroy you.

But maybe this time I can allow myself to feel. Feel something for him. But I’m afraid. Afraid of what would be. Afraid of what wouldn’t be.

Maybe I can be a friend to him. Maybe even something more.

TO THE SIDE IS A PICTURE OF ZACHARY LEVI -->
