Virgil Picani was lying on his belly in his front garden watching a spider crawl over his toy truck. His Papa was in the kitchen making some blackcurrant juice for him to go in his Sippy cup, while his Mada was sat off to the side, taking some artsy photographs. Everything was peaceful and strangely quiet but the small family didn't mind.

"Mada! Photo of spiter pwease"

Remy smiled at their son and walked over to where their son was pointing and took a photo of it, not expecting much from it but was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. They showed their son who giggled and went back to watching the spider which had now made its way over to his discarded trainers.

"Keep it, pwease?" Virgil begged, giving the puppy dog eyes that he inherited from his Papa and taught how to use effectively by his Uncle Janus.

"'Fraid not kid, that spider probably has its own home and family to get to. How about I talk to your Papa about getting one for your birthday?"

"Yes, yes, yes, yes!" Virgil jumped up and wrapped his slightly chubby arms around his Mada's neck

"No promises though"

Emile came outside at that moment, "what aren't you promising?" he asked handing his son his Sippy cup

"That I can convince you to get a spider as a pet"

"Why do you want a spider?"

"I don't, he does" Remy replied to their fiancé, gesturing to their son who held his hand out for the small spider to crawl onto

"Well I suppose if it stays in the tank and well away from me, then it's fine"

Remy smiled and wrapped their arms around their fiancé's waist from behind, resting their chin on his shoulder.

"Hey isn't there supposed to be new neighbours arriving today?" Remy asked, swaying Emile slightly to their own beat

"Yeah, I'm not sure who it is though" Emile hummed as he leaned further back into his partner, closing his eyes.

Virgil dropped the spider by accident and had moved over to the stepping stones leading up to their front door. He was playing an intense game of the grass is lava, his giggles were ringing through the street.

"Come on Vee, let's get some lunch" Emile called as he held out his hand for him to take.

Remy was already inside boiling the water, which was the peak of his cooking abilities. Emile picked Virgil up and joined Remy in the kitchen, placing Virgil on the countertop – Remy standing close by so he doesn't fall.

"What would you like with your pasta, little latte?"

"Gween sauce and ham pwease!"

"Sure thing, sweetie" Emile went and got what he needed from the fridge while Remy and Virgil played pattycake

Shortly after, Virgil's lunch was ready and Remy moved him to his purple plaid highchair.

Emile came over and went to hand the food to Virgil who was making grabby hands at the bowl, "What are the magic words?"

"Cwoffee and cartoons!" Virgil shouted without hesitation

The parents burst out laughing; he definitely was their son. It must've been something in their genes that they managed to pass on to their son. No need to worry about some form of Good Omens style baby swapping at the hospital, if his looks weren't enough, his personality was a definite mix of the two. Virgil had his Mada's dark hair and eyes but had his Papa's pale skin and slightly chubby build.
