Lib POV
Lib can't really say he didn't want his life.
But it was just too weird.
He didn't really know what was supposed to be right or wrong, and everyone around had different opinions, including the members within the Neverseen.
He differed from others a lot, not just by his eyes. Yes, his freaky eyes. He didn't even know how his eyes' existence was possible. Like, a turquoise green left eye covered with orange specks and an electric violet right eye. Literally: What the hell?
The Neverseen never made him go anywhere outside his base except on missions to fight the rebelling against the rebel group, the group called the Black Swan. Apparently, they had a girl in their rank who was also a lab rat like Lib himself, except older and less weird. His hair was weirdly electric blue from the moment he was born, while the 'other experiment' had regular blonde hair and brown eyes like a human's.
Sigh.
He didn't mean to become the most terrifying elf in existence, but he was created to account for many things: The Neverseen's grand scheme, which he had no idea what it is. The Lodestar's failure, and even his own "legacy", which he had no idea what in the world it was for. All he knew is that their leader, Lady Gisela, was his grandmother in a way but hell Nah, no way, she looked way too young to be a grandmother of anyone, even if he wasn't fifteen.
His life has been nothing but lessons on his new abilities, which seems to be manifesting into his body every year on his birthdays. The Neverseen always made it a big deal as if he turns to like a super-powerful godlike creature, but it just means more lessons for him. Some of his abilities were not manifested by Neverseen members, so he has to learn from the Neverseen's notes.
He was born with Telepathy, Polyglot, and a photographic memory. He remembered everything from the point he was removed from his incubator when his eyes opened to embrace the world. Though telepathy was a very, very big problem, he can't shut out thoughts until he was five, so it made his first five years very painful. On the other hand, his Polyglot abilities allowed him to understand everything his 'family' was saying he understood everything.
He manifested as an Inflictor and an Enhancer when he was one, so the only choice for him to practice his Inflicting is to steal notes from the Moonlark's notes in her memory log. Thankfully, Lady Gisela was able to do this without them noticing.
Things got complicated when he manifested as an Empath so he could feel people's emotions and tell if they were lying or not. This made a lot of people stray away from him, and he greatly suspect those who don't want to be near him are always lying. So he lied when he said he can't feel emotions from a distance.
He manifested as a Technopath at age 3, and a Conjurer at age 4. So from that moment on, he was like a vending machine of gadgets whenever they took him to fight with the Black Swan, so he was kind of proud of himself when the Blackswan was confused at the Neverseen just randomly getting gadgets from behind them and throwing into the field. However, most of the time his gadgets kept on getting evenly matched by the Black Swan's junior Technopath, and Lib had to say, he was indeed talented.
Now you might think, bringing a child into war at age 4? That is just child endangerment. Lib would definitely agree with everyone who thinks that even if they're not in the Neverseen. CHILD ENDANGERMENT.
He learned Mimicry with Lady Gisela, trained with Gethen for his telepathy skills, and had empathy lessons with Vespera. Though Vespera was just pure creepy, adding to the fact that she was an Ancient. He also learned how to Vanish at the age of 5, and became a Vociferator at age 6. He was screaming so loud at Ruy and Gethen when they tried to jumpscare him and even to this day they were still mad at him about it.
At age seven Vespera woke him up for the morning training, but he said he didn't want to and stayed in bed. Vespera muttered something about children and tried to drag him out of his bed, he turned his anger on her when she was suddenly splashed by his water from last night in the cup on his bedside table, and she told he manifested as a Hydrokinetic.
By age 8 the Neverseen basically was defeated, but that changed when he manifested as a Shade and a Flasher. He had heard of the story where the Lodestar got his legacy from Lady Gisela using a Shade and a Flasher to use the etherine and magsidian to create stellarlune, which brings out one's full potential. He used that to their advantage and healed the entire Neverseen but also boosting them to a whole new level. The other elves always thought this was just a miracle since they never learned of Lib's existence.
He soon manifested as a Cryokinetic (aka Froster) by age 9 when the Neverseen were doing their own version of ability detecting. He also manifested as a Guster and an Astrakinetic( aka Charger) by age 10. Trix was not happy about him being a Guster because Trix will have to teach the 'experiment'. Trix didn't really like Lib because he just happened to be caught in some accidents Lib caused accidentally.
Lib was not really comfortable with this whole manifesting thing. Every time he manifests he gets a new ability he has to go into a coma for 5 days. If it's two abilities he has to stay unconscious twice as long. It was frustrating. But the funny thing is when he woke up at age 11 after 10 days of sleep, he can miraculously order people around to get him food and things. It took the Neverseen a long time afterward to figure out if he was a Beguiler or a Mesmer. Sadly, he was a Beguiler, the fairly weaker one. He also happened to manifest as a Descryer too.
Lib was so happy at the dread on Ruy's face when he manifested as a Psionipath at age 12, which he also manifested as a Phaser at the same time. Ruy was smashing tables after the discovery and was commanded to a stop when Vespera yelled, "Ruy Ignis, get a hold of yourself!" Ruy was fuming by the time Vespera accidentally said his last name, even though he had no idea why it needs to be secretive. Later he heard Ruy muttering about Lib knowing something, which left him perplexed for another year.
The last three years were nothing interesting. He manifested as a Teleporter at age 13, a Fluctuator at age 14, and finally a Pyrokinetic at age 15. They actually considered releasing an elf named Fintan Pyren, who was supposedly the most powerful Pyrokinetic. But after a very long debate, the Neverseen decided not to bust him out of his icy prison.
Lib can't say his life was a waste. At least not for him.
He was happy every time he went out to go on a mission, he was overjoyed because he doesn't need to stay in his stinky room in the hideout. But everything, everything changed when he risked it and stepped through his Everblaze to take a glance at his archnemesis and possibly descry her, but she was too far. Moreover, she saw him. He wasn't supposed to be seen, the entire point of the Neverseen is to never to be seen.
His mistake may just be the biggest turning point in this long-lasting war.
He tried to push his thoughts of guilt, fear, and everything in between away as he headed down for dinner.
