For some reason, the clock just hit midnight. This wasn't the plan.
Winston thought they'd just drop off dinner and get back up to their timeshare. They weren't supposed to stay. Now they find themselves fighting the Holy Spirit's desire to get them out of there. Ciara, Ashley and Mahalia were too bad, bold and fine as hell for them to leave. And all of the repressed sexual tension in the room got them all stuck.
Ciara and Winston's Holy Spirit sirens were going off. They step outside to cool off from the heat.
"Your boy Luke is the pastor's son? You sure?" Ciara chuckles as she sips on her Riesling.
"He is, yep."
"He better be careful. Ashley will have him stuck even though he's looking like that's what he wants."
"Ain't nothing wrong with getting stuck, shit..." Winston punctuates his sentence with a curse word dripping with a groan. Ciara let's the Riesling sit on her tongue as she talks down what's happening below her waist.
"You cussing, Winston? God, forgive me for letting my brother-in-Christ slip. I'm sorry." Winston didn't like being called her 'brother-in Christ'. He didn't want just that. For the first time in forever he felt like he was talking to his wife. Though he believes his thoughts to be immature, something -- or maybe Someone -- told him that his quiet desire to be someone's one-and-only wasn't too far away from reality. Maybe his reality is standing next to him.
His fights through the disapproval of his new name with a slight laugh and another sip of his Woodford. "I repent, I'm sorry..."
He breaks his stare into Ciara and his future when her phone goes off for the thousandth time since they've been standing outside on the porch. He's marveled at how much she could ignore what's surrounding her to give attention to Winston.
Y'lan Noel (13)
Winston places his drink down on the top of the banister as he watches another text from Y'lan rip through Ciara's phone. He knew Ciara and Y'lan to have a history but he didn't know they had a present.
And now he's wondering if Y'lan is trying to sabotage his future.
