Chapter 5: Best Friends

Melody's POV

"Mel, your friend is here" Carol said as I got my room cleaned up. It's been a long time since Carol and dad married. I remember when he told us that they were dating.

Flashback

"Melody, there you are. Dad says he has something important to talk about" Kurt said as I nodded and we walked out of the school, I had just finished my classes, all of the boring ones, besides art. We got into dad's truck and drove back home.

"I wonder what he has to say to us?" he asked as we walked into the hose, there we saw Finn Hudson.

"Why is football head in my living room?" I asked as Kurt just stayed quiet. Dad came out as well as a woman who I guess is Finn's mom.

"Kids, I wanted you to be here when I say this... but I'm dating Finn's mom" he said as they looked happy. Finn looked like he wanted to die right there, Kurt too.

"You, you're daing?" I asked slowly as dad nodded his head, the woman looked hesitant at me. I looked at her.

"Do you really like my dad, does he make you happy?" I asked as she looked at my dad and nodded.

"I do, it's been a while since I felt this way since my husband passed away" she said as I nodded and turned to dad.

"Do you actually feel genuinely happy around her, alive like when mom was alive?" I asked as he chuckled and nodded. I nodded and walked back to the kitchen. I got out a bottle of sparkling cider, and poured five glasses.

"Kurt, come here and help me" I said as he walked over and took three glasses. I gave my other one to Finn who only looked dazed out. As they all had glasses in their hands, they all looked at me as I smiled.

"Well if you two make each other happy, then I am so happy for you both. You both deserve to be happy" I said as I raised my glass and they followed too except Finn.

"Are you sure, and I won't try to replace your mother, no I won't" Miss Hudson said as I shook my head.

"Don't you worry, I know that but you make my dad happy and he really deserves some happiness, besides I can't always take care of him" I said as she laughed.

"Oh I like her a lot" she said as she hugged me. I laughed as I looked back and grabbed ad and Kurt into the hug. I looked at Finn and he looked upset. I moved out of the way and approached him.

"You know group hugs only work when everyone participates?" I said as he just walked away. I shake my head, he will just have to get used to this. His mom deserves some happiness.

A few days later

"So your dad is dating Finn's mom?" Santana asked as I nodded. I was walking with her as we walked to Glee, she heard around how I called out Rachel for her homewrecking ways and instantly said I'm her new friend and mentor.

"Yes, he is not happy about it," I said as she nodded. People say she is mean but honestly she has to be that way or else she will get hurt. I get that.
