IMPORTANT UPDATE AT THE END.
||||||

Evan stood beside me; his hands dug deep inside the pockets of his sweater. It was a cold, Friday morning in New Orleans. It was raining lightly; the pavement colored a deep gray as the rain washed over it. It wasn't so much windy as it was cold outside this morning. I wrapped my arms around myself. Standing under the canopy to the hotel may have kept us dry, but it certainly didn't keep the chilly air away from us. Unfortunately, being caught in New Orleans at the wrong season meant that the sunshine and warmth I had expected was a long way away. Instead, I was greeted with the constant echo of the winds and pattering of the relentless rain.
"You cold?" Evan asked from beside me.
"Yeah."
"They won't be long. The cab picked them up ten minutes ago," he said as he wrapped one arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his chest.
"How long does it take to get to the airport from here?" I asked as I shivered into him.
"Not long. Fifteen minutes. Twenty if the traffic is bad."
I buried my head into the warm wool of his sweater. His hand ran up and down my arm, sending a sharp - but soothing - shiver through my entire body.

We didn't have to wait long. The tyres of the yellow cab slid across the wet road before pulling to a sharp halt directly outside the hotel. The door closest to us swung open, and a pair of beige flats found their footing on the kerb.
"Lily!"
I felt my face stretch with a grin that I somehow couldn't control. I broke free from Evan's warm grip, running towards Sarah who now stood with her arms outstretched, her face plastered with a grin which I could only imagine matched mine. I wrapped my arms around her, squealing excitedly like a little kid.
"I haven't seen you in so long! Oh boy," I panted breathlessly as I stretched away from her embrace to scrutinise her. Her hair - which had been a deep brown last time I saw her - was now dyed a honeysuckle blonde and neatly curled in a series of ringlets which bounced off her shoulders. Her face was bronzed and marked with her familiar smile lines which surrounded her eyes.
"You look amazing," I said with an appreciative smile.
"I could say the same about you! Look at you, girl. Stunning."

"I know, I look fabulous," I heard Evan behind me. I could practically feel his body heat from the non-existant space between us. I felt my heart beating rapidly, my palms doing the sweating thing, my cheeks flushing - although, I couldn't tell whether that was from the cold or the simple fact of the close proximity between the two of us.
"Oh, Evan!" Sarah squealed as she pulled him into a hug, breaking the bond between the two of us and almost squashing me like a sandwich filling between the two of them and I stepped aside as they embraced. "It's so good to see you!"
I could feel the heat underneath my cheeks at their prolonged greeting. "Where's Lily?" I asked impatiently. I'd only just became aware that she hadn't followed Sarah out of the cab. "I thought she was coming up with you."
"Oh, she was," Sarah said with disregarding wave of her hand as she released Evan from her hug. "She wanted to stay in Manhattan a little while longer - say her farewells."
"Anyway," she added quickly as he picked up her bags and shut the door behind her. "Let's not dwell on that. She'll be here in a few days. Let's go inside and crack open a bottle. I'm freezing! Is it always this cold here?" she rattled on.
"Seems to be," I said as I followed her inside.

Sarah's hotel room was directly beside ours: room twelve. It followed the same lavish gold color scheme as our room, except the furniture was arranged differently around the place. The bedroom and bathroom appeared to be in the exact same place - to the right of the front door, except the kitchen and lounge had been swapped like some mirror image of one another.
Sarah had barely thrown her luggage in her room before she was cracking open a bottle of champagne and pouring us each a glass.
We stayed until the sun set - which wasn't long really considering that it was dark by five at this time of the year. I'd been enlightened on the concept of the new season of American Horror Story which was set to begin filming precisely a week from now. Sarah had confirmed some of my queries; several familiar faces would be appearing from the first season - Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare and Jamie Brewer to name a few; many of which I was excited and overwhelmed to be working with for a second time.
"Ryan told me there would also be some new faces, although he hasn't been leniant on telling me who," she said as she took a long sip from the bubbling glass of champagne. I stared at my empty glass on the table, suddenly wishing I hadn't finished it so swiftly. "I know for sure Kathy Bates will be though. That's setting stone."
"Wow, that's awesome," Evan said. I turned my attention back to him, considering he was one of the favourite things I liked to look at these days. His mouth was open slightly with awe, his eyebrows raised and perfectly arched on his head. His dimples were very lightly engraved in his cheeks, his deep, dark eyes full of ... intrigue? I couldn't tell for sure.
"It sure is," Sarah added. "And the most I know is that the season is about witches, witchcraft, voodoo, black magic ... that kind of thing, you know?"
"It sounds great," I said enthusiastically.
That was one of the best things about Ryan - he gave you enough information not to give everything away, but just to keep you on edge with anticipation and trepidation.

Okay, guys. I've had this draft sitting here for about a week, and I just didn't know what to do with it. I'm currently at the point where I've kind of lost interest in this - not with the characters or their relationships at all, but rather just with the theme of the story. I have such a great idea for another Evan story, but I just don't particularly feel like this is going to be going anywhere at the moment.
I hope what very few of you read this understand that I'm no longer going to be adding to this, but rather I'm going to be starting a new story within the next few days.
I'm so thankful for the few of you that read this and I really hope that you will be interested in reading my new Evan story, I've got some good ideas, I think.
See you all then.
