It was still early and the apartment was relatively quiet, save for the slow trickling of water from the shower in the bathroom. I leaned back in the couch, scrolling through my phone. I must've spent a while idly reading news stories and other uninteresting crap out of mild boredom when I heard the bathroom door swing open loudly.

Lily exited the bathroom. She was flushed, her hair falling in wet strands down her slender shoulders. She attempted to hold the towel up against her wet body, and she caught my eye and quickly rushed past me into the bedroom to change. She looked hot: the way that the water droplets trickled down her tanned skin, and how she was flushed and steamy. Was it normal to think of your best friend like that?

I was disrupted by my loud ringtone, and I instantly leant over to answer it, glancing quickly at the caller ID before sliding my finger across the black screen.

"Ryan?" I asked in confusion. "Yeah, Evan. It's Ryan Murphy," he said casually. "I'm calling because I want you to join the next season of American a Horror Story." I could've sworn my heart skipped several beats. It wasn't like this was the first time, he'd called me when he wanted me in the second season, but I still got that same stomach-wrenching feeling when he asked me. I didn't have time to reply because he carried on talking. "I'm planning for the filming of Coven to take place next week. The catch is, the location I'm set on filming on is over in Louisiana." I managed to find some words. "Louisiana?" I repeated like a parrot. I was such a dork sometimes. "Yeah, New Orleans. I know it's such short notice, but I wasn't totally set on who we'd be casting this time around. I need to know now, are you in?" he asked. I swallowed quickly. What about Lily? I mean, I promised she could stay with me. She could always stay here while I was gone; I could maybe even fly her out to Louisiana with me. A change of scenery would be great for her. "Of course I'm in," I said quickly. "Awesome, I'm glad to hear it. There's a flight leaving this afternoon. I'll have my assistant send you all the information. See you soon, Peters." He hung up as I sat down on the couch to steady myself. I couldn't believe this was happening.

It took me several moments to regain myself. I decided I should probably go and give Lily the news straight away. I wasn't going to linger since I wasn't entirely sure how she was going to take it. I stood up slowly and knocked on my bedroom the door. "Are you decent?" The last thing I wanted was to walk in on her naked or something. Actually, the thought of that wouldn't be too bad if you asked me...

She was talking to someone, and she hushed for a few moments. "Come in." I entered the room as she finished her conversation. "Awesome. Thanks so much! I'll see you soon." I cocked my head slightly as I fiddled with my fingers. "Lily, I-"

She hushed loudly before running over to me and grabbing my wrists. "You'll never guess who just called me?" she squealed. "Who?" I asked. "Ryan Murphy! He casted me for the third season of American Horror Story!" I felt a wide grin spread across my face to match hers. Lily had been casted too? It felt like everything fitted together perfectly, like the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle slotted into place to complete the final picture. "Seriously? Me too!" I said. She squealed excitedly, bouncing up and down while holding my wrists. She was so cute when she was excited. It was nice to see her so happy and alive, a complete contradiction to finding her curled up in a pool of tears back at her place just a night ago. "Ev, we have to pack! We have to get ready!" She glanced at the time on her phone excitedly, pulling it out of the pocket of her black skinny jeans. "The flight leaves in 8 hours!"
