IT'S BEEN CLOSE TO A YEAR since I won, or shall I say survived the Games. A lot changed during these months of being a so called Victor. Me and Ace left our home in the Seam and moved to the Victors' Village, our only neighbor being Haymitch.
I think I should be happier to be able to live in a mansion now, but I'd rather have a sane mind than dinning at a mable table and having enough money to finally buy anything I've ever needed.
At least Ace is something close to happy. He's the one looking after the house and always reminds me how proud our parents would have been. I, on the other hand spend my days as a victor in the woods, like I did before.
Everyone in my District knows my name if they didn't know it before. They see me as some kind of hero, but I'm far away from that. My eyes dance over the river while it flows so peacefully when suddenly a sound from behind me takes my attention. My body immediately fills up with adrenaline when I turn around, grabbing around one of my arrows, ready to shoot one at whoever is following me.
Then I see him, Peeta behind a tree. I stand up as fast as I can, shooting an arrow into his direction. The arrow hits him where his heart is, but then Peeta's figure changes into Percy's. The boy from District 4 falls to the ground, screaming for help.
"Percy!" I scream, my voice cracking as I run towards the dark haired boy from the fishing District. As suddenly someone grabs around me from behind.
"It's Ace, O."
I look at my brother, my whole body shaking. Gale is standing right next to Ace, looking worried at me. "You need help," Gale started and I rolled my eyes at him while I push Ace's embrace off.
