Chapter 21

Day 3

Traffic on the Southern California freeways was unusually congested in the late morning, making any long trip an uncomfortable one.

Two large charter busses were taking all the clients on a trip to a construction site that the firm was funding. Their plans were to see two buildings, one nearly completed, the other still under construction. Both would be in the same location, so the plans to see everything would be convenient.

Although all the visiting clientele knew they would be traveling this day, they were unprepared for the delay because of traffic. The firm did all they could to make the trip as comfortable as possible.

"I told you to go before we left if you didn't want to go on the bus" said Mei as she looked as Yuzu seated next to her next to the window.

"But I didn't have to go then" said Yuzu squirming in her seat. "And I thought we'd be there by now. It'll be embarrassing. People will see where I'm going when I'm passing by."

"It may be a while longer before we reach the site" said Mei. "You don't want to hold it for that long. And since it's a construction site, you might have trouble finding a place to go right away. At least here you have the option."

Yuzu continued to wriggle in her seat. The thought of holding everything in for any minute longer felt like torture.

"Uhhgg... Okay fine" she said in frustration as she laid her phone down and began to stand. "But it's still embarrassing."

She moved around Mei and walked down the aisle towards the restroom at the back of the bus, hoping that people wouldn't stare at her.

Mei felt slightly amused seeing Yuzu in her usual behavior. She stared at her lover walking away, remembering the evening they had together. A little embarrassing, but still worth every moment.

After they picked up their clothes around the suite, they prepared dinner as they called Ume to let her know how the day went. They assured her that everything was fine and there were no problems.

Then they called or texted their friends to let them know how they were doing. Later they spent some time watching TV, cuddling one another before they returned to bed.

They then fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms, both exhausted from the whole day.

It was a night that Mei will never forget. She hadn't remembered a time before where she felt so happy.

She then turned around to look at the clients on the bus, reminding herself that their business affairs were far from over.

It made her think of what she and Yuzu were told when they arrived at the firm this morning. The combined events of yesterday's presentation, plus what they were told a little while ago, were weighing on her mind.

After arriving, they had a chance to meet with April, who was still exhausted from all the work she had to do the night before.

She explained that the firm was in contact with every one of their investors, trying to repair the damage caused by Mills and his brother. The local authorities had issued a subpoena for Dultech's offices, the owners homes and other locations to begin their investigations into their involvement in the embezzlement scheme.
