Although paraplegic, Serafina still works as a counselor for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. She never saw DeVante again after that night. DeVante was arrested for felonious battery (prosecutors were unable to prove he was trying to kill Serafina). He only got five years probation, but served a year in prison when he violated it (he beat his new fiance unconscious during an argument). The judge granted Serafina a ten-year restraining order against DeVante; requiring he stay 1,000 yards away from her, 900 yards at public events.

DeVante has not remarried, but still remains in contact with his two children. He still loves Serafina, no matter how many yards seperate them. However, Serafina has moved on with Brian Walker, who became her second husband on September 12, 2007. They live in Pheonix, Arizona with no children....just the two of them.

"DeVante told me that nobody else would want me. When we would break up, Brian was always there, chasing after me and I turned him down so many times like a dummy. When I was divorced, I knew that my heart belonged to Brian. Sometimes you have to be with the wrong person to get to the right one, if that makes any sense. So, I actually have DeVante to thank for that."

- Serafina Phillippe.
