A/N: hey guys :) so the last time I updated this was like in April 2019 and that was more than likely to just edit a mistake but I downloaded wattpad back and plan to update this book more even though I'm not huge into Hamilton as much as I was when I started this (about 2017 or 2018). I appreciate all of you for the views and the funny comments and all of the support. <3

Elizas POV

I'm in shock

I'm in pure awe

I got a letter today from John Lauren's father stating his sons tragic death during battle

How am I supposed to tell a young toddler one of his best friends died when he was his favorite person?

"Eliza?" I hear a few feet away. I wipe my tears away with a piece of cloth and look at him shakingly, "A-Alexander-"

"You were crying-" he says gently, softening his voice. "Are you okay, Eliza?-.. you need a hug?"

"Honey, please sit down-.. I have some.. bad news to tell you.."

"Am i in trouble?-.. I thought I cleaned up all of my toys like you asked-"

I giggle soften and I see Alexander's stance soften, "so I'm not in trouble!"

"No-.. not at all.. I got a letter today from John's father.."

I take a deep breath before exhaling shakingly, "let's sit down first.."

"Okay!" Alex holds his hand out towards me so I gladly hold it and guide him to the seating area. He climbs into his favorite chair made just for him and he kicks his feet sweetly

"Okay.. Alexander-.." "yes?"

I sigh gently and squat down to his level

"I have very bad news about your best friend.."

Alexander gasps and stops kicking his feet, "John?"

"Yeah-.. the letter told me that-.."

How am I expected to do this? How am I supposed to tel him his best friend passed away?

"John was in a very hard battle.."

"Did he win?" Alex gently sits up but yet my heart sinks

"No-.."

"Well we don't always win so that's okay! At least he tried!"

"Baby, I don't think you understand-.. his enemy won the battle and he passed away.."

Alexander's postures stiffens and he looks up at me like I gained his full attention

I feel myself shake a little bit

"He died?" Alexander asks softly like he doesn't understand

"Yes, Alexander-"

"So I'll never see him again? Laf and Hercules will never see him again either?"

"No-.. not until we also pass away.."

He sits there like he's thinking gently

"Okay.. can I go play?-.." he asks

that caught me off guard

"I-.. yeah- go play-"

Alex gets up and runs to his stuffed animals and starts to play around

I expected him to react a lot worse.. but I guess toddlers don't have a great grasp on how mournful deal is..

I hope everyone else is okay.
