CHAPTER TWELVE: How far could you go when it’s only the beginning?
Talia Cambridge
School seemed interesting now. I still had my date after school with Chris. I haven’t seen him since the weekend. It’s Friday, so it was practically a week since I’ve seen him. Not that I was checking, but it kind of hurt me inside. I was getting my hopes too high on this date. I knew he wouldn’t be into this. I haven’t even seen him, or talked to him for the matter. I don’t even have his number.
The girls were in the Council room where we were going to meet up. I was walking at an incredibly slow pace, but it wasn’t like I was looking forward to anything anyway. I arrived at the semi circle set up. Sam and I had to be directed in the middle since we were the Presidents. We were already planning the first ever dance, which was the Halloween dance. We’ve planned it for a while now we just need to do the decorations aspect of it.
I noticed the room was rather crowded, and then I noticed about seven of the senior council members. They all looked at me as if I was superior instead of the other way around. I scowled at them because they knew who I was, and I was Talia Cambridge.
I then sat beside Sam at the front of the room. Everybody immediately had their eyes towards the door. A female with long, fiery red hair came in. Her arms were clinging onto Chris, Chris Klein’s arms. She was gorgeous, long legged, green eyed, and perfect. I thought so. I really did and I let my heart fall again and ended up falling hard.
They walked swiftly onto the other side of the room. I saw Chris’ eyes hover to mine, but I looked away. I expected this. I was his hussy on the weekend. This was to be expected. I felt Sam’s hand on my leg. I told her and Natalie about what happened between Chris and I. They were thrilled, but what was there to be thrilled about now?
“Okay, so we’re here to discuss events for October am I correct?” Ms. Peeler came in with her floral dress back in order and her glasses seemed to be present as well. We all agreed. “As you have noticed, the senior council is here to join us for the remainder of the month. We discussed on having a joint dance this month so we could raise more money for charity.”
“That’s just fantastic.” I whispered to Sam. She gave me a heartfelt smile.
“So, can we have all presidents up here please?”
Sam and I stood up with Chris taking his time down the stage. We had to stand side by side and Sam being Sam pushed Chris and I together. I mumbled angrily. Ms. Peeler was explaining our events to the other members while we stood in the background. Luckily, nobody could see much from the front since all lights were on Ms. Peeler.
“About that date-” Chris began to say. After a week of ignorance and him entering the room with a girl on his arm he still thinks I would accept that date?
“Yeah, I don’t think we should go through with it either.” I interrupted. He looked confused.
“Wait, what?” he whispered. Ms. Peeler still continued on.
“I don’t think we should go through with the date.”
“Why?” He suddenly looked angry.
“I don’t know why. I just don’t feel like it anymore. Besides, after six days I was hoping to know about the details of the supposed date, but I guess I was just dreaming.” I began to walk away. Sam could handle it anyway. Chris grabbed my arm.
“Look I’m sorry; this week has been kind of busy for me. I had football and I just had to be focused.”
“Well then, you can be even more focused now. I’m out.” I noticed the red head slowly coming up the stage. I recognized her. She was in the cheerleading team. “Oh and by the way, you’re as cliché as it gets. Enjoy this lava head. Red head is so not this season.” I walked out of there. I just realized I just caused a commotion because the entire council and Ms. Peeler were looking at us with widened eyes.
