take it all- Adele

Colby's POV

A loud knock sounds on my door, I stumble to the door, quickly covering my arms. The person knocks again.

"I'm coming!!"

Sam and Corey are standing there when I open the door.

"What do you want?!"

"Show us your arms," Corey says.

"Why?" I question, suddenly worried.

"Because we think you relapsed," Sam whispers, so quiet I almost missed it.

"Right, because that's all you care about. Get out!"

"Okay..." Sam mumbles, turning to leave.

"Sam, stop," Corey says. He looks at me, then at Sam, "You two need to work this out, you need each other."

"Let's go, Corey," Sam says, pulling him out of my apartment.

I lock the door behind them and sink to the floor, crying.

Sam's POV

I drag Corey out of Colby's apartment. I hear a lock click and then a sob. Corey starts to turn back but I stop him, shaking my head.

"I think it was too soon. I think we rushed him," I say.

"He needs you, he needs us," Corey says.

"We'll check on him later," I say.

"Sam-"

"Trust me, he needs space right now. Colby doesn't do well when people push him," I say.

"But if he is cutting again, what if he tries again?"

"That's why we'll check on him soon. But I think I should just go."

He nods and we head back to my apartment.

An hour later, I head back over to Colby's apartment, bringing the spare key with me, just in case. No one answers so I unlock the door. Colby is curled up on his couch, fast asleep, dried tears on his face. I dry his tears, pull a blanket over him, and leave him some water. Then I leave the apartment.

"So?" Corey asks when I get back in.

"He's asleep," I say.

I text Colby.

S: I'm sorry we pushed you. If you need anything, I'll be there. Corey is spending the night too so just let us know if you need anything.

3 hours later

C: did you come over again?

S: just to check on you, you were asleep.

C: so the blanket and water was you?

I hesitate, not sure how he'll react.

C: Sam?

S: yes, I'm sorry.

C: why are you sorry?

S: I know you're not exactly happy with me right now.

C: True, but I do appreciate you looking out for me. I'm sorry I got defensive earlier.

S: I'm tired, I'm going to bed.

C: oh okay.

I lock my phone.

Well, he confirmed it... He isn't happy with me... Why does this hurt so much?

Colby's POV

I decide to text Corey.

Colby: Is Sam asleep?

Corey: no, we're watching a movie. He wanted to stay up in case you woke up and needed anything.

Colby: Is he okay?

Corey: he does seem a little upset all of a sudden.

Colby: oh.

Corey: What happened?

Colby: I was honest about something and I think it hurt him. He told me he was going to bed.

Corey: I'll try to talk to him.

Corey's POV

"Sam, are you alright?"

"Of course, why would you ask that?" he asks.

"Colby texted me. He thinks he hurt you," I say.

"Oh, it's nothing," he says, looking down.

"Sam-"

"Oh alright," he says, then shows me the texts.

"I can see why that would upset you," I say.

"I don't get it, I mean I knew he was upset with me. But I don't know why it hurt so much to hear," he says.

"Maybe because you didn't want to believe it?" I question.

"Maybe. I guess I just miss him. I love him and I hate that we're fighting," he says.

"You just need to give him time, he's still healing," I say.

"I suppose you're right. It just feels like I can't do anything right for him right now. I just say something stupid or make him mad," he says.

"It's a learning process for you two. You just have to make sure he knows you're here for him."

I nod, "I'm going to go to bed."

"Okay, night sam."

Corey: He went to bed.

Colby: what did he say?

Corey: I think you should ask him that.

Colby: I suppose you're right.
