Time reversed in a dizzying backward blur, as if a tape were being rewound, every moment that occurred in the hospital room flickering by at a dizzying speed while, outside the window, darkness gives way to dusk the sun 'un-sets', returning to its place low on the horizon. At this point, the time reversal ends and the room is empty. Except for Harry, Amelia and Hermione.
"What just happened? Where's Ron?" Harry asked, obviously confused. Amelia and Hermione ignores the question, and eyes the clock on the wall.
"Seven-thirty. Where were we at Seven-thirty?" Hermione questions.
"Going to Hagrid's." replied Amelia.
"Come on! We can't be seen!" Hermione grabs Amelia and Harry's arms and slams through the door. They come to a mad, huffing halt. "Hermione or Amelia! Will you please tell me what it is we are doing?!"
Annoyed, Harry follows their gaze and blinks in disbelief. Across the grounds he sees himself, along with Hermione, Amelia and Ron, about to confront Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle near the monoliths.
"But...that's...us. This is not normal." Amelia rolls her eyes at Harry's statement. Sometimes he's really just stupid to not put everything together.
Dumbfounded, Harry turns.Hermione holds up the hourglass. "This is a Time-Turner, Harry. McGonagall gave it to me first term. This is how I've been getting to my lessons all year."
"You mean, we've gone back in time?" Harry asks, bewildered.
"Yes!" Amelia nods, as she purses her lips.
"Dumbledore wanted us to return to this moment. Clearly something happens he wants us to change." Hermione says.
A soft snack is heard. They turn, and see Malfoy land on the seat of his pants.
"Good punch." Harry smiles in admiration.
"Thanks." Amelia smiles.
"Hurry! Malfoy's coming!" Hermione pulls Harry and Amelia under the bridge. Seconds later, footsteps calm or over their heads.
"Not a word of this to anyone, understood?! I'll get that jumped-up blood traitor one of these days. Mark my words..." Draco spat. "My father will hear about this, how she has the gut to punch me in the face. She'll get another cruciatus curse when she goes home."
Eyes narrowing in anger, Amelia leans out, reaches up, and sends Malfoy sprawling. As Harry pulls her back, Malfoy looks around in confusion, then dashed off with the others.
"Amelia!" Hermione scolds. Seconds later, Harry emerges, marvels at the sight of himself and Amelia, Hermione, and Ron heading down the slope to Hagrid's hut. His eyes shift to the pumpkin patch.
"Look. Buckbeak's alive." Harry states.
"Of course! Remember what Dumbledore said. If we succeed, more than one innocent life could be spared." Hermione nods.
"Buckbeak? But...how will saving Buckbeak help my dad?" Amelia furrows.
"We'll see." said Hermione.
As Buckbeak feasts on a ferret, Harry, Amelia and Hermione duck behind a pile of pumpkins. Peering into the hut, Harry and Amelia sees Hermione and Ron embrace awkwardly. Amelia and Harry grins and they look at each other only to find Hermione analysing the moment with considerable fascination.
"What?" Hermione lifts a brow, eyeing Amelia and Harry.
"Nothing." Amelia said, in a sing-song voice.
Harry looks toward the slope, sees Fudge and the others approaching in a cloud of crows. "Here they come. I better hurry."
"No! Fudge has to see Buckbeak before we steal him. Otherwise, he'll think Hagrid set him free!" Amelia pulls him.
Harry nods, then looks toward the hit. Inside, Hagrid is handing Scabbers to Ron. "That's Pettigrew—" as he starts to rise, Hemrione and Amelia garbs him.
"No, Harry! You can't!" Hermione speaks fiercely.
"Hermione, that's the man who betrayed my parents! You don't expect me to just sit here..." Harry tries.
"Yes! You must!" Hermione points inside. "Harry, you're in Hagrid's hut right now. If you go bursting inside, you'll think you've gone mad. Awful things happen when wizards meddle with time. We can't be seen."
"She's got a point, Harry. Besides, as much as I want to kill Pettigrew, we can't go bursting in." Amelia turns, watches Fudge and the others drawing closer. She frowns, glances into the hut. "Why aren't we leaving?"
Just then...on the ground beside her, Amelia notices a jagged star-shaped stone. Instantly, she garbs it, rises and girls it though the open window. The sound of a glass jar shattering is heard in the hut.
"Are you mad?" Harry huffs.
Hermione nods, and gave her a that's-a-great-idea look. She took a second stone and threw it through the window and off the back of Harry's head.
"That Hurt." Harry glares, as he holds the back of his head.
"Sorry..." Hermione grimaces. Crows begin to drop atop the roof. Fudges part arrives, Raps on the door. "C'mon. Any minute now we're going to be coming out the back door."
Quickly, the three of them dash into the trees directly behind... just in time to see themselves (along with Ron) exit the back door and slip behind the pumpkin pile where, only seconds before, they were hiding. As
Fudge appears at the window and picks his nose as before, Hermione ponders the back of her own head."Is that really what my hair look like from the back?" Hermione squints.
"Shut up, Mione!" Amelia scolds, Hermione and Amelia sees themselves turn. Ducking, she accidentally stirs the branches, then peeks out and sees themselves staring curiously at the branches dancing oddly. Next Hermione hears her own voice:
"I thought we saw...Never mind."
The three of them watch themselves start up the slope. The coast clear, they slip out of the trees.
"Now, guys!" Hermione waves at the other two.
