I might be young, but even at my young age there is something about this world I probably know better than most adults: humans aren't born equal. In this society of ours where mysterious genetic mutations called Quirks have become the rule there are still those who do not possess them. Those people are called Quirkless and are treated as second rate human being, retrograde beings from a society of normalcy forgotten. I, unfortunately, am part of the 20% of the population deemed Quirkless. My name: Izuku Midoriya.
Quirks are amazing advancements of biology. Super powers which humans could only dream of a mere 2 centuries ago are now the norm. They are divided into 3 categories: Emitter, Transformation and Mutation.
Of course, I know what you are thinking: "Humans with super powers? That's bound to go wrong somewhere." And, yes, in the beginning criminality increased like wildfire, either petty crimes like simply robbing a convenience store or assaulting a random bystander, to more elaborated and dangerous actions, to the point there was a time long ago where anti-quirkless organizations would make frequent terrorist attacks, believing themselves to be more worthy than the scum who still did not possess such powers. But all of this disappeared with the arrival of Heroes, a new job for a new society. Well, almost everything... racism against Quirkless people kinda went from "heinous crime" to "Generally acceptable", but... baby steps, I guess? Well, the important thing to take out of this history lesson is that being a real-life Super-Hero went from fever dream to plausible future job. Right now, being a Hero is the dream of many a child, including me.
Well, it includes me. There was a time when I would have doubted my chances of ever being a hero, but then... I met him.
As you already know, I am quirkless. It is common for a person like me to be a target for bullying and prejudice by my pear and other people around me. I've always been a victim ever since I was four. Not only did my best friend Kachan turn his back on me as soon as I was discovered to be quirkless, so did my teachers and even my father. Society saw me as a defective human. There were moments I though no one in this world would ever accept me as an equal... and funny enough, I was kinda right...
