Adam's POV~
Max looks at me, sadness in his eyes.
"Why did you guys have to break me out? I could've stayed. Stayed with my friends. And now...and now my close friend is shot, he might die!" tears threaten to stream Max's face as he yells this. I take a deep breath, hating my Maxie in pain.
"I'm sorry love. I need to bring you to my boss. He..he wishes to...see you" I say, carfull with my wording, not wanting to upset little Maxie anymore than he already is.
"See me? Boss? You have a boss? Why would he need to see me? I'm so confused. Your keeping things from me and I don't like it. Please Adam, just tell me what's going on. Where are we going!?" Max asks me, tears closer to flowing. A look of pure confusion is plastered on his face.
"Max.." I say, slowly moving closer and touching his cheek. He pushes me way and backs up. "No. I'm not going to let you 'lovey dovey' your way out of this. If you truly care about me you'll tell me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!"
I wince at him suddenly raising his voice. I take a deep breath, pleading Maxie won't freak out.
"My..my boss. He. He wants to see you because he wants to change you.." I say carfully, watching for any facial expressions to be alarmed about. Max looks even more confused than before.
"What..change me? What do you can change me? My attitude? My appearance? I don't understand"
"He...he wants to change you into one of us...into a Hidden." I say slowly. I search his eyes and find traces of confusion and betrayal. My gut clenches. My thoughts swirl.
Max's POV~
Into a hidden!? How could he hide this from me!? Realization hits me as I understand what he's doing. Chilled had warned me about this during a visit in my hospital room. Adam never loved me. They just wanted a Hidden that knew the Inside of the building.
Adam's POV~
I try reaching out again, to try and calm him, but he wacks my hand away and stands up. I stand up and try to hug him but he shoves me back down the the ground with surprising strength. He must be really angry.
"You never loved me" he snarls, tears streaming like a waterfall. My eyes widen and my mouth gaps open, attempting to defend my self but nothing comes out. Max continues.
"You're just using me. You just want a Hidden who can get what you want. You never gave a shit about me. To think that I actually BELIEVED you! To think that I gave my heart to you, that I let my walls down and hurt my friends. I listened to you WHOLE HEARTEDLY. and to think that this whole time you sat there, playing me like a video game. You sat there as if there was an achievement for how much you could hurt me, how shattered you could make my heart. I TRUSTED you Adam! And you just pretended so you could get into the base."
