Chapter 18~ Awake

Max's POV~

The first thing I notice is a harsh beeping in my ear and a blinding light piercing through my tightly shut eye lids. There is a small shuffling sound and foots steps then a female voice I don't recognize.

"Doctor! I think he's waking up!"

More suffling. Heavier foot steps, likely belonging to a male. What's going on? Where am I? I want to wake up, see what's going on but... I can't. Something foces me to stay in sleep mode.

"Max? Max can you hear me?"

Max?... Who's ma...oh. I'm max. I want to tell the unknown man that I can hear him. I just want to awake!

Just like that, as if I called out and god heard me, my eyes burst open. Blinding white lights enter my  pupils and I have to shield my eyes. I hear a loud sigh of relief and I look to my left. Slowly, my eyes adjust and I realize the male is Dr.Yami. I smile brightly at the sight of my old friend but it quickly disappears.

"How..did I get here?" I ask in a husky voice that was sent ready to be used. Yami looks cautiously to the side, as if asking with his eyes whether to tell the truth or not. This is when I notice the girl. She looked to be 18 or so and had bright purple hair, frizzy hair. Her bangs covered one eye as she looks at me shyly. Her clothes were interesting with galexy print tights and a black shirt that looked to be a men's large and reached half way down her thighs. Who was this girl? As if reading my mind, Yami introduces me.

"Max, this is Lilac. She's a hacker friend of Chilled's who is helping us out on the Hidden case. Lilac, this is Max." I slime at the girl, Lilac and say hello. Her head is slightly bowed down so that she's hidden behind her frizzy hair but she looks up at me and smiles shyly. Wait. Hidden case? Adam.

"Adam?" I ask quickly, no longer caring about my old question not being answered.

"He's okay." Yami says. I sigh with relief. Wait, how does he know how Adam is? I look at Yami curiously.

"All questions can be answered by Sark later. First, I must check to see how your health is. Lilac, thank you for watching over him, you can head back to your crew now."

Lilac's POV~

I glance up at the doctor through my hair shield and nod. I exit the room and walk quickly with my head down, avoiding eye contact. When you've been a hacker all your life, social interaction isn't exactly your strong suit. I weave through people and the halls, hoping to find my way back to the computer lab the have set up for my crew and I. Chimney is probably hungry by now, why don't I stop by the cafeteria and pick him up a Hot Pocket. That will also give me a reason to casually ask someone how to get to the lab without looking too lost. I smile at my plan and push open the caff doors. Biigg mistake. There are way to many people in this room. I feel my heart rate start to increase as anxiety and panic sets in. My aqua blue eyes sweep across the room in a desperate attempt to locate a friendly face. I relax slightly when u spot Minx standing off to the side. I had met her yesterday and was probably the friendliest person other than Chilled. Well, towards me anyway. I'm sure most of these guys despise me simply because I'm a hacker. I quickly being the maze-like adventure that is a short girl  weaving through a large crowd. I'm knocked on the ground and I wince in pain.

"Great. Just freaking great." I mutter to myself. I hear chuckling and immediately search for the source. Looking up, I see a tall, blonde, man who ressembled a twig with skinny frame.

"Need a little help? You've got to be more aggressive than that if expect to get anywhere in this mess" he says, smirking and reaching out to help me up.
