It felt like a heartache a feeling that would never ever go away. Laurel Lance was having the same feeling. She had just watched her younger sister Sara Lance fall from the rooftop building after being shot with three arrow's through her chest. Laurel had just walked away for a second to take a call from Oliver when Sara had fallen. As Laurel watched her sister fall Sara's mask fell off. Laurel gently picked her sister up and held her head begging for her not to die.
"Sara no! please Sara" Laurel said as she cried her heart out. Laurel decided it was best if she didn't take her to the hospital because she was the canary. She then choose to take her to the bunker nobody was there at the moment but she stood right by Sara. Oliver soon arrived to the bunker with Felicity and Diggle when he spotted Sara and Laurel covered in her sister's blood because she had been holding her.

"I didn't know what to do Ollie please just tell me she's going to be okay" Laurel said looking right into Oliver's eyes. Oliver gently closed Sara's eyes she was gone. "Ollie it's not fair we just got her back it's not fair" Oliver gently put his arms around Laurel hoping to ease the pain but Laurel cried as she held Sara's hand that had her blood on it.

Quentin had a bad heart and Laurel was afraid to tell him because she didn't want to hurt him. She blamed herself wishing she could of been there right by her side to protect her.
And now all she wanted to do was get justice and find her sister's killer but Oliver thought otherwise.
"Laurel even if you find her killer what do you plan to do with him or her?" he asked "when i find that person they will find out there new life is in prison" she said "i'm going to do what's right what Sara would have wanted" she finished "Sara would want you to move on with your life and doing what's right isn't going out there on your own your going to get yourself killed Laurel Sara wouldn't want this" Oliver said "so what your saying is that you don't think i'm capable of serving justice for my sister Oliver?" Laurel said walking away.

In the past both Laurel and Sara had taken self-defense classes to fend off there bullies. Laurel decided it was best to continue Sara's legacy and that she became the canary.

Laurel decided to continue to take self-defense classes and have someone teach her how to fight.
"I sure hope your not here to arrest me Ms. Lance" the guy said who worked in the self-defense gym. "No I'm actually here for a different reason,I want you to train me" Laurel said. "My friend Oliver won't so I thought you might at least try" she finished.

Laurel didn't hold back at all as soon as she got in that arena she fought like war was coming. "Why so much anger?" He asked "My sister" Laurel said "you fighting with her?" He asked "no something else" she said. He stopped and asked her "what are you talking about?" "My sister her name was Sara and she was murdered I'm trying to get justice" she said "well that's better now I know how I can teach you the right way" he said.

Laurel had decided she wanted to go out and be the black canary. Oliver was still in Nanda Par Bot while  the rest of the team was figuring it all out without Oliver.
It was a late night and a burglary was happening Laurel had found out about it and decided to deal with it herself she had a suit and a weapon so she thought she was ready.

She stood as quiet as she could and watched two men come out of the building with drugs and money. She then jumped on top of the car and used her "canary cry" to stop them. One ran off with nothing and she was able to corner the other one. "Who the hell are you?" The guy asked "I'm the justice you can't run from" Laurel said. The guy was able to get up and run and that's when he shot her with vertigo. Luckily Roy was there and was able to save Laurel "what are you doing out here?" Roy asked she was bleeding from the mouth and was hallucinating because she could see Roy as Sara.

"Felicity! We need help" Roy yelled holding Laurel "oh my god what happened?!" Felicity asked "She was out there fighting I don't know why but she could've died tonight if I wasn't there" he said "Sara? Sara, I'm sorry I'm so sorry" Laurel was still hallucinating but now seeing Felicity as Sara. Roy was able to find a cure and give it to Laurel and she later fell asleep.

Laurel later woke up and left this is when Roy came into the bunker. In the past weeks when Sara had died Roy was having nightmares of himself killing Sara he was afraid it was the mirakuru and asked Felicity to check. When she checked he was clear but there could have been mirakuru in his system still. When Felicity checked Sara's autopsy the arrows that were shot in her chest weren't shot with a bow the arrows were thrown with mirakuru force. Felicity admitted to him he might of killed Sara.

As Laurel headed home she thought about if she could handle taking on Sara's place. She thought she wasn't strong enough and that she had to be careful when going out there fighting crime because anything could happen.

When she arrived home she walked past a picture of Sara as the black canary. When Laurel was shot with the drug vertigo she had a vision of her father he was so upset and disappointed in her because she didn't tell him that Sara had died. That picture of Sara's dead and bloody body was still in Laurels mind whoever killed Sara was a murderer and Laurel was destined to do anything to find this person and bring them to justice.
