Chapter Eight: Inside My Head

YAOYOROZU'S POV

"Momo, remember that boy that went to middle school with you? Todoroki, was it?" Mother asked me. I nodded. I hadn't known him that well, since he didn't really talk much to anyone.

"He's Endeavor's son. Just think how much money his family gets. Our wealth along with theirs could raise our family's reputation," Mother explained. I was worried. Where was she going with this?

"He's in your class at U.A, no? Win him over and we could be one step closer to a greater generation of the Yaoyorozu family," Mother instructed me.

I was shocked. She wanted me to...win him over? For money? 

Maybe she hadn't been listening to me my entire life. I had never really been into boys. In fact, I've noticed recently that I'm very attracted to girls. Especially that girl, Kyoka Jiro, I think? Besides, he and that kid Midoriya were soulmates. They were bonded already. 

"Mother, I don't think that will work. He's found his soulmate already," I tried to explain humbly. My mother's face changed in that instant. It was filled with rage.

"Do you really believe in that dumb fairy tale, Momo? Soulmates don't exist. Even so, who does he think his soulmate is?," Mother asked critically.

I took a minute to figure out what to say. His name was Midoriya. He had green hair that puffed up in all directions. He had the biggest smile. Great person overall from what I've seen of him. No wonder he was Todoroki's soulmate.

"His soulmate is a boy named Midoriya-"

"HE'S DATING A BOY?! HE'S GAY?!?!" Mother yelled in disgust. She was homophobic, so she didn't like people that weren't normal and liked the opposite gender. (If I'm wrong and homophobic means something else, feel free to humbly correct me in the comments. Thank you.)

"I guess so, Mother. But I am too, you know," I told her, mumbling the last part.

"How could his father possibly tolerate this? He probably doesn't even know. Momo, is this 'Midoriya' person part of a rich family?," Mother asked after she finally calmed down.

I didn't think so. He seemed...plain. Not to be rude. He just didn't stand out with anything other than his personality. And his mumbling. 

"No, I don't think so-"

"Then he'll be easy to replace. You're rich, smart, and you have a great Quirk. A lowlife like him can't have too good of a Quirk. You can easily win Todoroki's heart," Mother interrupted me once again. Not only that, but she was insulting people she didn't even know. Midoriya had a great quirk, greater than mine. Sure, he might break an arm or a finger, but he has potential.

''Then it's settled. You will win Todoroki over and replace that lowlife. That is what you need to do. Is that clear, Momo?," Mother asked, getting up from the table.

"But Mother-"

"Good. Then it's decided," Mother said before walking away. She had no means to negotiate with me. She wants what she wants and that's final. 

God, how could I possibly do it? Maybe I just shouldn't do it at all.

But if I don't, Mother would be upset. Call me a failure. A disgrace to my family.   

I-I'll do it. But I won't actually do it?

That's right! I'll try, but I won't actually try. I'll keep 'trying' to win over Todoroki, but I'll just say it never works. Yes!

That way, I don't lose my 'friendship' with Todoroki. And I have a chance to be friends with Midoriya.

And I'll also still have my chance with Jiro. 

Alright. This is a short chapter but it wasn't meant to be longer. Anyways, I've come to say "HAPPY PRIDE MONTH." If you are one of the people who's like "What is Pride Month?", I've got you covered. Pride Month is one month of the year in which we celebrate the LBGTQ+ community. Basically, a month where we celebrate lesbians, gay people, bisexual people. You get the gist of it. I happen to be straight, but I have many friends who are not. So make sure to take a chance to celebrate someone you know that's in the LBGTQ+ community. And if you don't know anyone, be sure to support from the sidelines.
