𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐖𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐖𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 her first term at Hogwarts, and surprisingly, she was absolutely loving it.
She loved the friendships she had made, the hot summer days of lounging by the Black Lake, and of course, she really loved the feasts, and even the lessons sparked her interest.

The only thing she didn't love, was a certain Draco Malfoy.
Ever since their little run in on the train, it seemed as if Malfoy was deliberately trying to make Aurora's life a living hell, for no reason that was apparent to Aurora.

He started off with little things, like sneering at her friends, throwing her dirty looks from the other side of the potions classroom, or even one time, tripping her up 'by accident', and Aurora had learnt to live with these things, passing him by with just a glare or an insult.

However, one day, the week before the Christmas holidays, he had done something that repulsed Aurora, and made her sick to her stomach.

It was just before the beginning of a Herbology lesson, and both the Slytherins and Gryffindors were gathered in the greenhouse, Professor Sprout talking animatedly about Mandrakes.
"Can anyone tell me the other name for a Mandrake?" Professor Sprout asked, scanning with her eyes for a hand, but only finding bored looking students, stifling their yawns.
"Ah, miss Granger!" Sprout nodded at Hermione's eager hand. sounding relieved that someone was actually listening to her.

Aurora heard Malfoy snickering behind her, and she instantly turned around and glared at him.

"Don't you dare laugh at Hermione, I'm sure if you knew the answer, Malfoy, then you would not be laughing." She whisper yelled, anger pulsing through her veins.
Malfoy raised an eyebrow at Crabbe and Goyle, and chuckled.
"I really don't remember asking for your opinion, blood traitor." He spat, his eyes resting accusingly over Hermione.

Aurora glanced at him for a few seconds, in pure horror and shock from the disgusting wizard slur he had just said, and before she could stop herself, she was marching up to the platinum blonde boy, and raising her hand to slap his smirking face.
"Don't you dare try that again Malfoy, or you will regret it."
And with that, she stormed out of the greenhouse, and despite the tears pricking at her hazel eyes, an immense feeling of pride washes over her.
Meanwhile in the greenhouse, a few gryffindors were cheering, and a very confused and angry Draco Malfoy rubbed his reddened cheek.

𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍 that was leaking into her bedroom, and instinctively she grumbled "two more minutes." before abruptly realising she was not at Hogwarts, but at home, and it was in fact Christmas Day. Rolling over and glancing at her alarm clock, she rolled out of bed, remembering that her parents said they were on 'work business' today, and would not return until late.
"Great way to spend Christmas, alone." She said to herself, sighing and pulling on an oversized sweatshirt and some fluffy socks to warm herself up.
The mid December morning was frosty, and the first few flakes of pure snow were falling, and Aurora realised this as she excitedly pulled back her curtains, scanning the ground.

Snow had always been her favourite, ever since she was small. She guessed she liked the peacefulness of it, how it created a blanket over the world, and she felt protected, like the frosty substance would keep her safe from dangers.
Aurora padded down the spiral staircase slowly, feeing slightly disheartened when her mother was not there, even if she would only say merry Christmas. Aurora shook the feeling off, deciding she would try to have the best day possible by herself.

She wasn't expecting any presents this year, like usual. It wasn't that her parents couldn't afford them, of course they could! They lived in a mansion for Merlin's sake. No, it wasn't that. Her parents had always said gifts were a little child thing, and Aurora didn't need them.

However, this Christmas, a small gasp escaped form Aurora's lips when she saw under the tree.
There must have been at least 8 different gifts, all wrapped in different paper, sitting underneath it. Her parents didn't really approve of the tree either, saying it was 'too muggle like' or 'not appropriate' but Aurora had eventually persuaded them.

Knelling beside it, she examined the gifts carefully, before eagerly ripping the wrapping paper off.

The first was a hand knitted jumper from Mrs Wealsey, which nearly made Aurora tear up, because her own mother wouldn't even dream of something so thoughtful. For the other gifts, she received a box of Bertie Bott's Beans from Ron, a pair of colourfully knitted socks from Harry, a Skiving Snackbox from Fred and George, and the history of magic from Hermione.

When she reached the last present, a small black box with a note attached, she frowned.
It had no name signed, with a scribbled signature that Aurora couldn't make out.

dear Aurora,
I know you don't know who this from, and I hope you do not work it out. This is an apology letter I suppose. What I said the other day was totally unacceptable, and I hope you can forgive me. You really are not a blood traitor, and I understand you and Hermione are close friends, and that's okay. Anyway, hope your Christmas holiday is going ok and you're enjoying seeing your parents. I wasn't sure if you would like the gift attached to this but I even got help from Mum picking it out so I hope you do.
From: no one

Aurora bit her lip to prevent a smile. It was obviously Draco, he really had to work on not being so obvious, she giggled. She was very puzzled though, considering he basically bullied her and hated her with everything he owned. Why in the world would he apologise now? She was too eager to see the gift though, so she pushed it out of her mind.

Opening the box, Aurora carefully lifted out a
delicate silver necklace, with a small pendant attached, and she gasped softly at its beauty.

It was a tiny sun, glittering in the real sunlight.

Aurora- the name meaning dawn in Latin and is often associated with light and sun.

Oo I really enjoyed this chapter, and I think quite a lot happened! I also thought the necklace bit at the end was v sweet because of her name meaning🥺🥺 please don't forget to vote and comment! :)
