𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐎𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐒 after Christmas was full of ominous grey clouds and rumbling thunder. Rain plastered the Hogwarts students hair to their heads as they ran to the scarlet coloured train with wispy smoke blowing out, disappearing into the dark sky above.
Aurora's Christmas holiday had been fairly uneventful, her only seeing her parents for a few days over the whole two weeks, and just keeping herself occupied with reading most of the time.

She struggled with her trunk and her Moon's cage, not looking where she was going, just concentrating on getting on the train without dropping anything or losing any animals.
As she stumbled through the rain, she suddenly fell into something hard. That hard thing also smelt nice, Aurora thought, pulling herself off whatever it was she'd bumped into it.

"Malfoy?" She squeaked, her eyes widening at the sight of the drenched blonde boy.
He raked a hand through his unusually messy hair, annoyance clear on his scowling face.

"Westwood. Get out of my way." He snarled, pushing her roughly backwards, and turning to leave.

Aurora stumbled, wiping rain droplets off her face.
"Wait!" Aurora called suddenly, stopping the boy, as he slowly turned round, sighing.
"That letter you sent me on Christmas," she spoke up bravely. "I know it was you Malfoy, the necklace too."

She watched in surprise as a deep pink blush settled on his cheeks, confirming her suspicion. It was very weird to see Draco Malfoy blush.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he spat, "and why would I send you a gift?"
"Don't flatter yourself Westwood."
Aurora sighed, knowing he would never own up to doing a kind thing for anyone, and something about that upset her, even though she was till extremely puzzled as to why he had sent it.
Malfoy hated her, didn't he?

"𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀?" Harry asked as they started piling food on their plates.
"Fine, not much happened,  to be honest." Aurora answered shortly, not in the middle to speak about her parents.
They all ate in silence for a few minutes, until Dumbledore cleated his throat.
"Hello students! I hope you all enjoyed Christmas," he spoke. Aurora thought he looked rather excited about something, and his eyes were twinkling brightly.
"This year, I'm very excited to announce that Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event!" He paused, looking at the hall of expectant students.

"The Triwizard Tournament!" He announced excitedly.
Aurora let out small gasp at this, her parents told her about it in France, but others around her, including Ron and Harry, had extremely puzzled looks on their faces.
After Dumbledore had finished explaining exactly what the tournament was, the large hall had a great buzz of excitement, and students were whispering to each other excitedly.

Aurora glanced around the hall, and accidentally made eye contact with Malfoy. Why did that keep happening? He held her gaze for a few seconds, his grey eyes feeling so imploring, and Aurora couldn't help but realise he looked very bored compared to everyone else. She looked away quickly, already feeling a blush spreading across her cheeks.

Luckily, Dumbledore chose this moment to speak again.
"As for other contestants, I introduce Beauxbatons academy!"
Aurora looked up, and nearly choked on her pumpkin juice. Why were Beauxbatons here? Would she see her old friends? What would happen? These thoughts swarmed her head, as she frantically slid down further into her seat, wanting to avoid any awkwardness between her old teachers if they saw her. She knew her father had not told Madame Maxine about her transferring to Hogwarts.

As the school of beautiful girls dressed in cornflower blue robes filled the hall, Harry, not transfixed by the girls like the other boys, noticed Aurora's panic.
"You okay, Rora?" He asked quietly.
Aurora nodded. "I transferred from Beauxbatons." She sighed. "I wasn't really planning to see them here, you know? It's a bit awkward," she said, biting her lip.

Harry nodded.
"Don't worry, it's fine! It's not your fault you had to move anyway," he said.

Aurora nodded, only half listening as Dumbledore introduced the other school, wishing she could be anywhere but here right now.

𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐖𝐎𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐑. "W-what are you doing-g Mione." Aurora yawned, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
"I'm waking you up, for Merlin's sake!" She said. "Breakfast is in 5 minutes, so you'd better hurry." She sighed, leaving Aurora alone to get ready.
She lay in bed for a minute, watching the honey coloured January sunlight pool into the dormitory.

She got dressed quickly, brushed her teeth and attempted to brush her hair, before running down the stairs two at a time.
Autos sat down in the hall, grateful she hadn't missed breakfast. Her eyes once again locked with a familiar grey pair, and she looked away quickly, ignoring the strange butterflies in her stomach, and deciding she really couldn't deal with Malfoy today.

As breakfast was finishing, Aurora gathered her things and got ready to head to Transfiguration, but as she stepped into the corridor, a pale wrist yanked her into an empty classroom. She yelped out in surprise, stumbling into the room.
"Malfoy?" She breathed angrily, taking in the sight of the blonde boy in front of her. "What are you doing?"
He looks down for a second and swallows, and if Aurora hadn't know Malfoy better she would say he seemed nervous.
"Look I don't know what in Merlin's beard you are doing, but I'm going to be late for lesson!" She spoke.
Malfoy gripped her wrist again as she turned to leave, and she huffed in annoyance. "Stop doing, that will you!"

He dropped her wrist immediately.
"Aurora, that letter-" he paused. "It was from me, the necklace was too. I guess it was an apology. I'm genuinely sorry for calling you- what I did." He said, and it sounded so sincere Aurora was shocked.
As she opened to mouth to speak, he interrupted her again.
"I know what you're thinking,"
"You're thinking that we are basically enemies, and I had no real reason to buy you a Christmas gift."
Aurora chuckled softly, earning a smile from Malfoy. "Exactly, actually." she replied. "So, what is the reason?"

He sighed again. "Well, I know I've been nothing but a dick to you since you came here, but I've been thinking,"
Aurora looked at him curiously, having no idea what he would say next.

"I mean, there's no real reason for us to hate each other, right? I mean, yes, I despise your taste in friends," he stopped, his face in disgust, clearly thinking of Harry.
"But why can't we be- civil?"
"Friends, even? " He took a deep breath, not daring to look at Aurora.

Aurora opened her mouth to speak again, but she was interrupted by the loud tick of a clock, drawing her attention to the time.
"Look, we're late!" She cried, grabbing her books.
As she was turning to leave, she said one last thing to the blonde boy siting on the desk.

"Friends."
