𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐉𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘, and the day of the first task was here. Harry had been a nervous wreck all day, which was understandable considering he  had to fight a dragon. Although Aurora wasn't really sure how to comfort a worried person, with not much past experience, she tried her best by reassuring him that Dumbledore wouldn't have supported the tournament if it had been that bad. The other contestants; Fleur Delacour, Victor Krum and Cedric Diggory seemed to be rather calm on the day of the first task, but she could tell that the annoying cockroach Reeta Skeeta was getting on everyone's nerves, prying into information that wasn't even hers to know.

"So, the famous Harry Potter finally has a girlfriend?" She gushed, bursting into the tent as Aurora was finishing wishing Harry good luck. Her beady eyes scanned over Aurora and she  grabbed her feathery green quill which suddenly started writing by itself, which Aurora tried not to stare at too much. She instantly pulled away from the hug with Harry, throwing Rita an irritated look.
"No, actually. Am I not allowed to wish my best friend luck?" She spat, to a still scribbling Rita.
To her surprise, Harry seemed pretty hesitant about the girlfriend thing, but he eventually agreed and told Rita they were just best friends.

"You'll do great, Harry I know it." She whispered in his ear. "And remember me and Hermione are there for help if you think you're in real danger." Harry's dragon he had been given was a Hungarian Horntail, and Aurora couldn't help but swallow with fear when she saw it for the first time. The contestants had to retrieve the golden egg from their dragon without it realising, and it sounded way too dangerous for a set of school games, Aurora thought.

She made her way through the crowd until she saw Hermione and joined her in the stands. Her eyes met Draco's in the crowd, who was sat in between Blaise and Crabbe and Goyle, and he offered her a small smile, which she returned. They hadn't been talking as much recently, and so Aurora was grateful for the small gesture of kindness.

Cedric Diggory was first, and although Aurora had her hands over her eyes most of the time, he seemed to be excellent and she joined in the clapping as he proudly held his golden egg in the air at the end. Fleur Delacour and Victor Krum were next, and although Hogwarts were not cheering Aurora had to admit Fleur was very elegant and quick in retrieving the egg, however Krum was so arrogant when he got his, blowing kisses to the squealing girls in the stands, she nearly rolled her eyes.

"And finally, for the fourth contestant," Aurora and Hermione shared a look, and she squeezed her hand nervously. "Harry Potter!" Everyone clapped and cheered as Harry walked out, and Aurora could swear she saw him shaking.

The Hungarian Horntail looked the worst dragon to Aurora, and although it was sleeping, she could see the venom it held. Harry glanced around him nervously, before cautiously walking towards the egg.
Before he could even get half way towards it, a sudden crash made everyone jump, and Dumbledore leaned over the side of the stand to get a better look. The dragon's tail had thrashed down, so close to missing Harry that Aurora had gasped. The deep orange flame from it's mouth licked at  Harry as he rolled away just in time, and Aurora could see the reflected flames dancing in the dragon's eyes as and she shivered in fear.
After a few more minutes of the dragon and Harry chasing each other, Harry suddenly fell down, and the dragon circled above him, his angry nostrils flaring and rumbling roars filling the sudden silence.
Aurora cried out and squeezed Hermione's hand even harder. Aurora could see Karkaroff from Durmstrang laughing at him, so she shot him a stony glare.

"Your wand Harry! Your wand!" Hermione screamed, as Harry stood still in utter panic, not moving a muscle as the dragon's fire breath rolled towards him.

"Accio Firebolt!" Harry shouted, stumbling backwards slightly. To his dismay, the spell didn't work and the dragon neared.
Harry crawled behind a rock, protecting his body from the heated flames.
He decided to take the risk, and he quickly leapt on his broom, the excited whoops of Ron and Hermione filling the air as he did so.
Aurora removed her hands from her eyes cautiously at the sound, and a grin spread over her face as she watched him soar through the clouds, now having a benefit over the dragon.

She heard Draco groan in annoyance from behind her and she whipped around, her long hair flicking Ron in the face as she threw Draco another glare. Draco and Aurora may be friends, but she wouldn't put up with any shit about her best friend. Draco rolled his eyes playfully and smirked, and Aurora bit her lip to stop her smile and turned back around.

She had been doing that a lot recently with Draco.

Smiling.

After a few minutes of Aurora squeezing Hermione's hand so hard that it was turning purple, her fear quickly disappeared and her shoulders slumped in pure relief as she spotted Harry holding the golden egg.

As they were getting ready to leave, she found a small slip of paper being thrust into her hand, although she couldn't see who it was as everyone was crowded together. Curiously opening it, a smile spread across her face.

Aurora,
meet me at the astronomy tower at midnight tomorrow.
I have missed our talks.

Kind of a filler chapter sorry asgjkk but the first task is over! I didn't want to write the whole Harry-Dragon scene in detail because honestly I think it would have been boring butttt something big (and sad😶) coming up next chapter. Thank you all for reading 🥺🥺

Also I feel like the actual writing in this chapter is AWFUL and I kept using the same words again for some reason😭😭 but i promise better writing is coming.
