She felt the tears on her cheeks before she heard her sobs, and her feet were frozen to the floor like they were stuck underneath a sheet of ice. She started to hold her dress up ready to turn around and leave, but Harry turned around. She'd caught him.
His eyes widened and he almost shoved Cathy off him in an instant, who had shock spread all over her face as she watched Aurora. Harry's face had guilt written all over it like an open book.
She wiped her tears away, taking a deep breath and pulling a hand though her soft hazel hair. The image of the two was burned into her mind, and she tried blinking desperately to make it leave her vision. Cathy pushed against the wall, Harry's hand roaming through her perfect hair, the happiness they shared.
Her body shaking, Aurora started to speak, but as her voice cracked she closed her mouth, deciding the best thing to do right now was to leave the situation. She walked away taking steady breaths, and a small, small piece of her hoped Harry would come after her, apologise, comfort her. But he didn't of course. Why would he? He'd never really cared.
Small beams of moonlight lit up the girl's delicate features and reflected off her silk dress, but the brightness was not enough to light the dark corridors as she hurried through them, or to dim the twinkling stars outside.
She paused after a second, leaning against the wall. Where was she going? She couldn't go back to the great hall now, looking like this. Deciding she couldn't face the questions just yet, she hurried to escape to her dormitory.
As she was ascending the stairs, she slightly tripped over her dress and cursed. Something in this small annoyance set an emotion off, and the next thing she knew she was sobbing. Sitting down on the steps, she put her face in her hands and cried, her muffled sobs echoing around the room.
A gentle voice in Aurora's ear made her jump slightly, and she slowly looked up through her wet eyelashes.
Standing next to her, was a platinum blonde, slightly out of breath, Slytherin. Draco Malfoy.
Forcing her smudged lips into a smile, Aurora glanced at Draco's face.
"So... are you going to tell me what happened, Westwood?" He asked, his fake smug expression making the girl next to him giggle.
She didn't say anything for a minute, enjoying the silence as Draco sat beside her.
"It's potter, isn't it," Draco spoke suddenly, and when Aurora didn't reply, he carried on. "I knew he was acting strange."
Aurora considered her options. Telling Draco what happened would lead to Harry getting trouble off him, which, despite him deserving all of it, she didn't want to bring on anyone. So the other option it was, denying it.
"Nothing happened Draco. I just- needed a good cry, you know?" She asked hopefully, praying he would believe her.
"Aurora! Stop. I know something happened tonight, you can't lie to me!" His voice raised a bit, and she winced slightly.
"I can lie to you whenever I want, Draco Malfoy. But right now I am not lying!"
Draco stood up, his height towering over Aurora and making her swallow nervously. "I'm not going to let you get away with this, Westwood. I can tell that you're hurt, I want to help you, but you need to cooperate!" He said, his tone colder than before.
"Draco! Leave me alone, for Merlin's sake! You don't know the first thing that happened tonight, and it's none of your business!" She shouted, more tears pricking at her eyes as she picked her dress up started half-running out of the room.

He pulled himself up, stretching his stiff limbs and raking a hand through his messy hair as last night's memories came flooding back. His argument with Aurora, forgetting the common room password, everything. He hadn't gone back to the ball last night, as he couldn't face Parkinson's constant questioning and the confused looks thrown at him. He'd tried to find Aurora to apologise, and he even waited outside the girls dormitory for at least half an hour, which was humiliating to say the least. Eventually, when Granger had come back from the ball and yelled in fear as she spotted Draco stood outside the door, he had trudged back to his dorm, telling himself he would apologise in the morning.
However, he then proceeded to forget the password, and that's what brought him to where he was now.
He yawned again, and, sighing, sat down yet again to wait for breakfast where someone could remind him what the password was.
