The frozen forest, dark and grey
She left for home through this way.
The hardships gain, the pain forsaken
Had she known before, she would have waned.

The moonlight shone on the trees so high,
Did she know,the river cried?
The love she lost, the friendship hazed,
Her heart was cold but she was told-
Told to be brave, to have vigour high,
She had to go home before midnight.

And the moonlight showed her the way through cold,
But she was not willing to own-
Own her miseries, she ran from it,
Her home was not somewhere she wanted to be.

She wanted to sleep off the night, never wake up again,
But she knew, she can't lose this game.
She had to move forward to her home,
The warm place where the fire shone.
The moonlight was nice but the fire burnt,
