UNKNOWN'S POV
"It wasn't in our plans," he slammed the car door and took out his gold Zippo lighter to light his cigar. I glanced at him and grabbed the shitty thing and threw out of the window, "Hey!"
"Don't smoke in his car,"
"He wouldn't say anything. Besides, if you didn't want to mess with his car, you should have taken yours," he huffed before untying his tie making him to look like a nerd. I carefully watched his moves, he was anxious. I could see with his shaking hands that were trying to put some music. It was his favorite playlist, for some reason I knew why.
"Did you do what I've told you?" I asked, my eyes still focusing on the road.
"Yes, but why to change some parts of our plans?" he slightly shifted on his seat to look at me. This time, he was him who watched me intently, trying to decipher what was going on my mind.
"Because I want it. Don't ask to much questions when you didn't want to join at this. So just follow what I say and we are good. I need some times to enjoy this and soon, we'll be both free of this," my voice shook towards the end and I obliged myself to blink away the tears that were treating to fall. I hate those tears, it makes me weak and I'm not weak, not anymore.
"Listen, I'll do whatever you want if you're happy," he sighed. I nodded, satisfied and glad that he finally dropped the subject because he knew I won't change my mind until I reached my goals. Those goals that I've put it in my damn mind for years and it's not now, that I'll stop it.
JENNIE'S POV
These last few days, my mornings have been getting soft and light. The aroma of the coffee in every room of the apartment made my days perfect. It's amazing how our lives can take a turn. It's amazing how one person can have so much impact on you and it happens to you when you least expect it. I wouldn't venture to say that I'm totally changing my habits, but Lisa was the unstoppable element in my routine.
I stopped my train of thought when I heard a woman say something to the man who walked quickly before disappearing around the corner. I could see the silhouette and seeing the clothes, my heart was beating fast. It was no longer a coincidence. Whoever it was, this man was following me and the fact that he knew where I lived made the situation more critical. My focus shifted back to the woman who came to sit at the next table on the terrace. She mumbled that people were rude and didn't even apologize. Maybe the man who was chasing me wasn't so clever, because it's not the first time he's been seen shoving someone around. Or his plan was to get himself noticed so he could make me understand something, but what? My research continued even though it didn't bring me back much, but I wouldn't stop until I had an idea of what was going on. My first theory, which seems to be the most plausible, was that one of the men I manipulated had sent someone to spy on me. The red letters would be a way to torment me and make my life a living hell. But who could it be? I ruined the lives of more than twenty men and some of them could be eliminated from my list since I had data confirming that they were no longer around. This information left me with a dozen suspects. I'm sure I'll catch him soon, I can feel it, and as soon as I get my hands on that motherfucker, I'll make him pay.
In a few minutes, I was supposed to meet Lisa in front of her place of work. To wait for her, I had decided to spend the time in the café a few lanes away from the place. I raised my hand calling the waitress to give me the bill. I passed her my credit card which she returned to me in a few seconds. Thanking her for her service, I left her a small tip. The young girl was grateful and it seems like not everyone was generous with her.
I was about to grab my purse when I halted, facing the man who was at Lisa's place yesterday evening, Jackson. Today, he wore a shiny black suit revealing no imperfections. His face was neutral, displaying no emotion to believe he was a robot. In his hand, he was holding a folder with various papers sticking out. Seeing my eyes, he hid the folder behind his back before straightening up.
