CHAPITRE 41 - CHANCE

JENNIE'S POV

With papers scattered on the floor, on the table and on the chairs, Seulgi, Jisoo and I were each sitting on our own and flipping through this thick brochure that Jin was kind enough to provide me with as soon as he overheard what I was planning. Moving house took a lot of time, starting with finding the ideal home. That's why Seulgi and Jisoo had to help me or I would never be able to progress. To simplify the task, we each had the same sheet with the criteria that I had set up. According to this list, they had to search for the houses that matched them the most by highlighting the page of the brochure. Every two hours, we would come and compare what we had found and eliminate as we went along to leave the best ones in my eyes. But even with the three of us working together, we were far from finding what I was looking for or I was just very difficult.

"When we have to pack up your stuff, I feel like it's going to be a pain," Seulgi left a sigh showing how tired she was, making me feel a little guilty to ask her to help me when she probably had more important things to do. Lying on the ground in the starfish position, Jisoo chuckled before throwing a candy in her face.

"Get up, there's no time for a break. Eat the candy to get your energy back," Seulgi picked up the candy wrapped in its golden foil with a dubious look before deciding to eat it.

"Unbelievable. An energy drink in candy form. Now that's a genius idea dude,"

"Give me one, Chu," I expected her to throw me one except that she and Seulgi immediately gave me a disapproving look, "Oh come on. A tiny piece of candy is never going to have an effect," I said with frustration.

"It's not for you but the baby, Jen," 

The baby. 

It was both unexpected and planned. What could I expect when I slept with Lisa without protection. When I realized the mistake I had made, I felt bad and helpless. It wasn't the best thing to do given the situation. For many days, I tried to ignore these alarming signs by finding excuses to reassure myself. The nausea and headaches could be caused by an overload of work-related stress. Vomiting could be due to physical fatigue.

But it didn't become normal when these symptoms persisted until the day Seulgi and Jisoo forced me to go see a doctor. To make sure that I had made an appointment and that I went, they even accompanied me. In the end, I was very happy that they were with me because when the doctor told me the news, my legs had almost given out. Learning that you were pregnant will always be a shock whether you wanted to or not.

It was a real nightmare witnessing Jisoo and Seulgi assaulting the doctor with all kinds of questions. Of course, Seulgi didn't understand when I slept with a man since she didn't know about Lisa's situation. I don't know what had shocked her more between my pregnancy and the fact that Lisa had the ability to make me pregnant. It took her about an hour to process the information.

So I come back to what I was saying. Since this news that I still dread to know how I feel, Seulgi and Jisoo refuse to let me make any movement that involves raising my hands to grab an object above a cupboard or carrying a cardboard full of paperwork. I literally felt useless, as if I wasn't already useless enough when they were helping me to look for a new home. 

Find a new place to start a new life was actually my initial plan, before the baby. 

For weeks I thought about what I wanted to change. Starting with the money I had extorted from all those men when I was a femme fatale. The condominium I lived in was meaningful to me, but it was founded on money I didn't deserve. So I looked for a solution to remedy this. After all that was still money and I might as well do a good deed with it. Therefore, I found myself in different orphanages making donations in the form of checks. I went from place to place with either Jisoo or Seulgi leading me there. I have never been happier in my life seeing those innocent eyes sparkle when their legal guardian announced that they would be receiving new school materials and some toys. Moreover, I was doing a good deed to wash away the sins of these jerks.
