"No, no! It's my treat, i should be paying." Adrien voiced over to Marinette.
After they finished their food, they started arguing about who should pay for the late lunch.
"But-I should pay!" Marinette whisper-yelled at him, taking notice that other people were eating peacefully and she didn't want do bother them.
"No buts- I'm paying. And that's final." Was the last thing Adrien said before he noticed that Belle was walking over to them.
"Are we ready to pay?" Belle asked them. Adrien nodded, getting out his card.
Marinette took notice of that and rushed to take hers out.
She was too late, because he was already sliding his card across the table to Belle before she could get hers out of her wallet.
"I'll be right back with it!" Belle smiled, walking to the back register.
"Hey! I was about to get my card out!" Marinette raised her voice at him, catching the attention of a few other diners.
"Too late." He smirked at her.
Marinette huffed, leaning far back into her chair.
Marinette went too far back.
Uh oh..
Marinette prepared for a pretty bad fall.
She clenched her eyes shut, preparing to hit the floor any second now..
Instead, she didn't fall.
She opened up one eye, then the other, staring at the person who caught her just in time before she plummeted to the floor.
Adrien.
Thank god for him, he saved her from falling.
"Mari, you gotta be more careful." Adrien whispered to her.
Marinette's breath hitched at how close they were.
Adrien stared at her.
She stared back.
They were having one of those 'moments'.
Well, their 'moment' got ruined by a few flashes of cameras.
Adrien quickly pulled her up and sat her chair down.
Adrien cleared his throat, picking up his jacket from the back of the seat.
Marinette stood up, grabbing her purse.
Belle came back with Adrien's card. After a few brief thank you's and goodbyes later, they made it outside of the cafe.
"So, that was nice." Marinette said, walking over to the passengers side of the car, getting in. "Thanks for saving my fall." She added, slipping into the seat as he did the same.
"Yeah, no problem." Adrien said, turning on the car.
Marinette reached over and turned the radio on. She smiled as she recognized the song.
"Here's a little song i wrottteee you might want to sing it note for note.
Don't worry, be happyyy" Marinette sung, Adrien looking at her, smiling.
"You know this song too?" He asked the singing girl, she nodded before singing again.
"In every life we have some trouble-" She got cut off by Adrien starting to sing.
"But when you worry you make it double, don't worry. Be happy" Adrien finished for her, smiling at the road as he drove off from the cafe.
"Don't worry be happy now." They both started singing together. "Woo ooh. Don't worry. Whoo. Be happy. Woo. Don't worry be happy." They sang the song at the top of their lungs, enjoying the moment they are spending together.
They made it to the end of the song after singing it together.
"Don't worry." Marinette started.
"Be happy." Adrien finished.
"Woo Ooh"
"I'm not worried."
"Woo."
"I'm happy."
"Ooh"
They both bursted out into laughter as the song faded, the tune changing to unfamiliar song that was on the radio.
Marinette reached out and turned the radio volume down.
"Hey, thanks for today, Marinette." Adrien said, glancing over to her before putting his eyes back on the road.
"Yeah, it's the least i could do." Marinette said, glancing at the road.
She heard her phone ring a familiar ringtone.
"I-it's my mom." She said before pressing the accept button and bringing her phone up to her ear.
"Hi mom."
"Y-yeah."
"I'm on my way home."
"Yeah, i can help out."
"No problem."
"I'll see you in a bit."
"Love you too."
"Yeah, bye."
Marinette hung up the phone and placed it in her purse.
"My mom needs my help in the bakery." Mari said, looking over to Adrien.
He nodded, before turning the car to the direction of her house.
"So, how long are you going to live there?" Adrien asked, in the new found silence. "I mean, like when are you going to ya know, move-" He started to revamp his sentence but got cut off.
"Move out?" He nodded. "I'm trying to find a good apartment but until then, i'm sticking with my parents." She said, looking out of the car window.
"Well, i know a good apartment place." He said, looking amused.
"Where?" She asked, eagerly, turning her head towards his direction.
Adrien laughed at her before responding.
"My apartment building has some good apartments open right now." He said, smiling. "I'll send you the owners number." Adrien turned his eyes off the road to glance at her.
He turned his attention back on the road.
"Thank you, Adrien." She said, blushing a light pink.
"No problem." He sighed, lightly.
They arrived at the bakery. Adrien parked at the front of the bakery.
"Today was nice, thank you." Marinette said, opening the door, getting out.
"Bye Mari, i'll talk to you later." Adrien said, smiling.
He drove off as he saw her open the door to the bakery.
Marinette walked into the bakery, closing the door behind her.
"Mama, papa, i'm home!" She announced her entrance to her parents.
"Hi! We're in the kitchen." She heard her papas voice.
She walked into the back kitchen, peering into the doorway.
"So what do you guys need help with?" Marinette asked, crossing her arms.
"Oh um- could you put those croissants in the oven and then start a batch of cookies?" Sabine asked, rolling out dough for a tart she was making.
"Sure!"
Marinette got right to work with her parents.
