Alone To Face Reality

I am alone.
Alone to face the horrors of reality,
Crashing down on me like a tsunami.
Flail and thrash,
I am suffocating.
Dreams that I've carried since small,
Torn apart and ripped,
Like they were nothing at all.
Tears roll down my face,
I long to get away.
From the choking clutch of reality.
It piles onto me,
Layer by layer, like a cake.
But what I endure is everything but sweet.
I can only watch as reality
Takes away the only things that let me survive,
In this harsh, harsh world.
I am alone.
Alone to face the horrors of reality.
