It was almost the end of the week for Star. She had gotten use to spending hours locked away with either her patients or with the other doctors. She avoided Trager and Blaire as if they had the plague so she spent more time with Waylon. She was able to see the photos he did have of his kids and spoke about the different video games they played. It was the longest time since Waylon had a real friend/ flirt to talk to when he first arrived. They walked together to the break room as they both picked through the change in their pockets.
"You can not be serious! No way is a Mac better then a PC." Waylon stood off on the right of the machine. Star stood in front of him collecting her quarters in her lab coat.
"I'm sorry that I play less games than you Mr. Park. I do have a life outside the screen." She leaned her hip on the counter while counting the quarters in her hand.
"I'm offended really. Truly." He slide his own money down the slot talking as he selected his brand of Coke a Cola.
"Of course that means I will kick your ass in COD, DOD,-"
"Okay I get it! You would beat me in video games." She laughed as she slide her coins into the pocket on the machine. Waylon felt as if a great weight as been lifted off him. His time being in Murkoff was absolute Hell. His wife leaving him and taking his only kids away from him when he couldn't even get a single day off to see them! They lock him away in a tiny, dark corner in a basement. With the only people to talk to are all a**holes and scum bags. But when Star Swan walked into those gates, his world became a little bit brighter. She made him feel like a human again and not some rat on a wheel. Although his definition of torture is much different from the patients that live here.
"Well we should definitely see what your gaming is like one day." He picked at the top of his soda can creating a tiny clicking sound echoing in the empty break room. The machine created a whir and clatter giving her a beverage.
"Definitely." She cradled her soda can feeling the cool medal in the palms in her hand. Her face heating up with excitement and nervousness. She really did like Waylon he was sweet, intelligent, and funny. Maybe she could talk to Blaire into giving both of them a week off. Not to date per say, although that idea gave the butterflies in her stomach a jump, but to see who he is on the outside on this place. To see how the wrinkles on the corner of his mouth turn up when he laughs, how his eyes sparkle when he talks about his kids and his passions; just all the good things about him.
"Excuse me hope I'm not interrupting anything special." Thinking of the devil, Blaire had walked in with an almost sour look on his face. Star had looked down to her feet puckering and sucking her lips.
"No Blaire we were just talking." Waylon set his can down crossing his arms over his chest. The two employees created a staring contest waiting for the other one to make the first move.
"Is there something you need Mr. Blaire?" She rest one hand on her hip and the other placing the sugary drink in her pocket. Said man moved his eyes towards the flustered woman.
"A new patient for you. He will be going to our new therapy program and we want you to preform an evaluation. He's in room 26." He flashed another one of his creepy smiles creating a shiver down her spine.
"Would you like me to walk you down there Ms. Swan."
"No thank you Mr. Blaire. I'll get my paper work set up." She began to walk away but stopped short in the door way.
"Bye Waylon." She gave him a flirty smile before walking away completely. Waylon gave a wave goodbye watching her sauntered off.
Once the two males were alone, Blaire switched into an angry and jealous man.
"I will tell you this once Park," he lowered voice in the blonde's ear," back off. She's mine got it!"
Waylon gave his own hard look not backing down from this high paid bully.
"As if you have a chance." He walked off making sure to hit the older man's shoulder on his way out. No more being a push over, this time Murkoff is not getting off so easily.
Meanwhile, Star had her interview equipment set up ready for Mr. Gluskin. He had to be the hardest patient to work with. Once she opened his file, she read the line of his sexual abuse during his early childhood before needing to vomit. She cleaned herself applying a new layer of cherry chap stick to her lips and a piece of mint gum in her mouth. After skimming through the rest of the file, Eddie Gluskin is a misogynist and a serial killer who tore his female victims apart. From a combination of police reports and his medical records, Star needed to play the role of a submissive female. Unlike with Denis, she wanted him to take over the interview unraveling his own mind set to her. Although his other doctors have tried the method of being the dominates lead but resulted into dead ends. Maybe this time due to her biological and genetic femininity it will. Women can be the master of deception when they want to.
She untied the bun in her hair letting the wild curls fall down her shoulders. Next, she removed her black frame glasses out her lab coat pocket and onto her face. She pinched her cheeks creating a rosy tint under her hazel eyes. By looking in the one-way mirror, she calmed her emotions to soften her face and kept her eyes as much to the ground as possible.
The sounds of chains and men yelling growing closer to her door as she rushed to turn on her camera and putting her files in the observation room next door. All she had was her blue pen and black notebook. She moved back down to her seat straightening her white blouse and silk skirt. Either the universe has wicked sense of humor or bad luck followers her; she is about to meet the Groom.
