Chapter 1

The Accident

It was a sunny Sunday morning, my brother Ethan and I were busy playing video games as usual, since weekend as we believed were meant for fun. Few minutes earlier, mom had come to give a quick notice, she said something I wasn't paying attention to, and I knew for sure Ethan wasn't either, we were both engrossed in the game as we were in a competition for the best player. Ethan and I were on a draw score, and just that one moment I was about to have my chance to be the winner, mom barged into the living room and switch it off, which made Ethan and I both exclaim. I exclaimed more in disappointment as I was actually the one who loss the great chance, my first chance of beating Ethan to it.

"So have you concluded which one of you are going to the market with me?" mom asked.

"Market!" we both exclaimed.

"Oh so you both weren't even paying attention earlier when I asked you to decide among yourselves who would accompany me to the market. Well as you can see I am ready and I won't stand here and watch you two argue for what seems like eternity. You have only five minutes to decide and tell me now who is going with me."

"Ethan should go, he'll be better at giving a helping hand, in terms of load carriage." I said and mom turned to Ethan.

"No no mom, she's the female here, females should go to the market. Afterall I went with you the last time." mom gaze turned to me as she folded her hand across her chest.

"Ella?" she raised her brows.

"And who says markets are meant for only females." I rolled my eyes and pleaded with mom. "Please mom let him go with you this time, you know I have to stay back and prepare lunch for dad just in case."

"That's what you said last time Ella. You ain't gonna spend the whole day in the market, remember." Ethan said and leaned reluctantly on the Sofa.

"Just shut up Ethan and go with her already." he remained unwilling.

"Times up. No more video games for you two this year, I'm seizing it." mom said pissed and headed to pull it out."

"No mom!" we both exclaimed and went to hold her hands at both sides.

"I don't have time for this, both of you let go of my hand this minute."

"We are sorry mom" I said and Ethan backed it with a nod "don't just stand there nodding, go with her already, at least for the sake of our video game."

"And why should I do that, you said it's 'Our' video game,you can as well save it, so you should go with her." he turned his face away.

"Come on Ethan, please.. Pleeeese" I made my baby face, pouting my lips and then kept pricking him with my finger, he tried resisting but not for too long.

"Fine! You really need to stop using that cute face and tricks on me Ella. I'm not your baby doll."

I blushed and gave him a quick peck on his cheek. "You're the best bro, thank you and of course you are cute too, afterall we're twins!" this made him smile widely.

"Since it's settled, Ethan I'm giving you five minutes to change and let's head out." mom said and he went to his room immediately to change.
