It's not that Luna is a romantic. Okay, well, maybe she is. She is an awfully hopeless romantic, but hey - at least she doesn't believe in this all 'destined to be' shit, as well as she doesn't believe that one can ever have what they truly ask for. It always comes in some crazy, twisted way. But - but if anyone ever asked her (no one really has so far), what she is looking for, she would definitely say that she wants this someone to be a good person.
She would never, ever, ever date someone who is an asshole; she would rather see some soft smile on a face of a person with a soft attitude and soft humor. Person who is relaxed, and chill, and would tolerate all the weird shit she tends to do. Person who also would make her feel safe. It's kind of like a Simón kind of person, just not Simón, she's not attracted to Simón. He is all good things that are in the world, she feels only well with him, yet growing up with a boy like Simón made her see him more like an older brother; a superhero that will always be there.
Maaaybe it could be someone like Pedro, casual, calls her out when she does stupid shit and makes her feel like she's so strong that she can conquer entire universe, but she would never, ever, ever, (ever) date Pedro.
Now, may the lightning strike her, because the boy she's currently attracted to is none of these things. No, wait - he's one of these things mentioned above.
He's an asshole, duh.
Certainly, if you took a dictionary and searched for word asshole, the only definition you would get would be his picture. He is definitely not a bright, relaxed person, not approachable. Luna can't create a normal, decent, human conversation with him; not that she would ever want that, ew. So in general, she's not worried about her boyfriend material taste, because that boy is not boyfriend material; he looks like one of those fake cupcakes from commercials - delicious outside, yet tastes like cardboard (since it most likely is cardboard), he simply is a handsome, attractive guy with long legs, strong arms and awful character. Not to mention that they don't like each other - they are enemies and that's all they will ever be. He is in the enemy team, they are bad people and act like some creepy cult, and Luna really would rather stay away without interacting with him in any way.
And the problem here appears, because of the fact that Matteo can be found in many places, that Luna can possibly be present during the day: he is in her chemistry class at uni, (even though he is something like two years older), he has to take the chem course to graduate (or that's what she has heard around). And he is annoyingly good at chem; solving exercises and answering all professor's questions, not to mention looking delightful at 8 am on Monday mornings.
He is also in Roller, on the skating rink and in the cafeteria, sitting like he owns this place and maybe it's partially true, because the owner of Sliders owns Jam&Roller as well and Matteo, among other people, is his puppy mascot, which makes him act like he can do anything he wants.

Jam&Roller skating team is obviously the hardworking one. As teammates, they support and help each other, and with that they have found themselves in second place, right behind the Sliders. It gave them qualification to some higher grade, fancy competition they have to travel half of the country to attend to. Maybe not really half of the country, but still to a different city, which means they will have a two week break away from home.
They most likely will not win anything, not having a proper practice place for a long time and getting only a few hours with their illegal (recently legal since Gary got his cult a new one) trainer Juliana. Let's be real though, the Sliders are good at what they do; they have the technique, the constant image that is appealing to the juries and ~fans, they all are also weirdly attractive, which gives a truly original combination. Yet, they win everything that they can possibly win and Luna, as a person who doesn't wish anyone else bad stuff, genuinely wonders whether this good luck of theirs will ever stop.
