—whoever said to fall in love meant being on top of the world, lied. it's meant to watch and admire the one from afar. well, in lisa's case.
"lisa-ya," jennie calls, eyes half-closed."unnie? it's 2 A. M." lisa says, jolting from her bed to turn off her rainbow lamp, embarrassed. "yeah, i know." jennie replies nonchalantly, yawns and stretches her arms wide in the air. "why are you still up?"
"because of you." lisa says accusingly, with a pout on her lips. "they say that if you're awake, someone is thinking of you so please, jennie-unnie, stop thinking of me."
jennie gives her her intense judging look, staring at lisa for a minute or two.
"thank you for the fun facts?" she intones sarcasm in her voice, shaking her head. "you read too much, kid."
lisa didn't see it coming when jennie jumps and dives towards her thin frame, causing both of them to wince and whimper at the impact. "i'm not that heavy," jennie mumbles, shaking her limbs a little. "you're crushing me, unnie." jennie ignores her and encircles her arms around lisa's, comfortably snuggling her head to the crook of lisa's neck. "that's more like it," jennie whispers, blindly giving lisa cardiac arrest.
"why'd you turn your rainbow lamp off, lisa-ya?" jennie asks, rolling towards the empty space on lisa's bed. "huh? what rainbow lamp?" lisa pretends not to know, feeling like she's falling on the edge all over again. "you sure?"
"y-well no." lisa can't seem to lie to jennie's face. nor make up a believable excuse. "turn it on, jagi," jennie's joke were getting out of hand, because lisa's heart starts beating madly again, and jennie doesn't need to know that. "o-okay."
"i think it's something you shouldn't be embarrassed about," jennie says, watching the colors of ROYGBIV dance across the room. she spreads her arms in the air as she waits for lisa to come and cuddle her. "you love clinging onto me so much, jen."
"ditto you, right?" she says with a pout, and lisa was sure she would do anything for this woman in front of her. (for the love of her life). because she deserved that, at least.
"ditto me."
"lisa-ya," jennie calls, 2 A. M. in the morning. lisa was yawning, wearing her unicorn pajamas. she had her specs on too, since she was playing in her phone not long ago. "unnie?" lisa was looking at her questioningly.
"never mind."
"you're wearing our matching pajamas too." lisa had a wide smile on her face, causing jennie to stop momentarily in front of her. she just shrugged, and proceeded to join lisa on the bed.
"cuddle me?" she whispers softly, flexing the enticing gaze her cat-eyes can offer. and how could lisa say no?
"okay."
"i was about to ask you for a favor," jennie says, drawing imaginary circles on lisa's sleeve. "hm?" lisa asked, kissing jennie's crown tenderly. they look cute.
"can you teach me the new dance cover? i-i can't seem to do the dance well." jennie was an all soft person after midnights, and lisa felt lucky - special to be witnessing this almost every night.
"of course, nini. you don't need to ask." lisa laughs gently, hugging jennie the way she loves to be hugged. to be held.
"nini?"
"jennie. nini." lisa explains, nose scrunched, afraid jennie might reject her nickname. "nini?" she asks again, now turning to face lisa. "i like it, lili." was it possible for you to fall much harder than the last each passing second?
lisa was falling deeper, and who was she to complain? besides, she loves it. she loves jennie very much.
"cuddle me to sleep, please?"
"okay, my love."
"lisa-ya," jennie shouts, a huge smile plastered on her face. lisa thinks she won triple crown or something.
"i'm so thrilled!" jennie didn't even wait for lisa to call her back, seemingly looking like the happiest person on earth.
"know what exactly?" lisa asks with furrowed brows as she munched on her chocolates, legs folded together as they sat by the couch.
"so you know jongin, kai–"
"love shot dancer?" jennie laughs, nodding her head, her smile never disappearing. "yes! kai from EXO."
lisa didn't know where this was leading to. "and then?"
"so yesterday he took me out on a date and..."
lisa's focus seemed to diminish completely 'cause she didn't hear a word jennie was saying since then. it was just her and the heartbreak. it was just her and the i-wishes.
"lisa? see this? he's good at taking pictures too," jennie giggles, showing lisa images from their trip from, yesterday? she forgot. she doesn't want to know.
"oh?" she mumbles, listening as much as she can to the love of her life.
"and here i thought i would never find the one. i really think he is it for me, lisa-ya." jennie admits with dreamy eyes.
"yeah, i guess." she swallowed the bitterness down her throat. she couldn't believe she isn't sobbing hard right now. "does chu and chaeng know?"
jennie bit her lip. "you're the first...i'll tell them when they return from their shenanigans." jennie gives her a small smile.
"lisa, are you happy for me?"
jennie, don't ask me that. lisa wanted to say.
"do you know someone said to fall in love meant being on top of the world?" she asked, wishing she was feeling the same.
"really?" jennie asked, amused. jennie was not one to believe in sayings, telling them it's utterly crap but right this moment, lisa almost believed that it truly felt like being on top of the world.
"i think so...i guess..." by the look on your face.
"jennie unnie, i am happy for you." she rips a genuine smile from her face while she squeezed jennie's hand, feeling all sort of things. she kisses her crown fondly, hoping her touch would linger onto jennie's skin. hoping this wouldn't be the last. hoping that the next time, jennie would tell her she loved her, too.
maybe it's better this way. maybe lisa had to keep loving her from afar, from a distance. maybe someday, jennie would look at her and instead of lisa's eyes she'd see the galaxies.
maybe, just maybe. but for now, it's time to be happy for jennie. because happiness is what she deserved, at least.
